The Milwaukee Brewers improved to 7 – 2 after taking two-out-of-three games against St. Louis this past weekend, and now they hit the road for the second time on the young campaign. Our resident baseball expert Ej Garr has belted out a 3 – 1 record with his 2023 baseball predictions and it looks as if he has the road dog on his mind for this tilt on Monday night. Let’s take it to the diamond and see if Ej can keep up his winning ways!

The new MLB campaign enters the second full week of action around the diamond, and the Milwaukee Brewers have jumped out to a stellar 7 – 2 beginning to the season. After taking two wins from 3 games played against the St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee has won 7 of their last 8 outings after the opening-day loss to the Cubs.

The Brewers are hitting the road for the second time this year after the series opener against the Cubs. Despite that opening-day loss to Chicago, the Brew Crew has won all three of their first three series of the new campaign but the Diamondbacks enter this game as significant favourites at 1.68 on the Moneyline.

Zach Gallen and Wade Miley are the expected starting pitchers for this tilt on Monday night, and I must admit I am surprised to see that price. As impressive as it was to take 3 games of the 4-game set with the Dodgers, Zach Gallen is the reason I question these odds. Gallen has made two starts this year, and he’s surrendered 9 runs through 10⅔ innings pitched in the young season.

Miley made an April 4 start against the Mets making this his second start of the year, and although everyone is doing it right now he made the Mets look pretty bad in that opening start. Miley began his career with the Diamondbacks and I do not doubt that he will use that as motivation on Monday night.

Wade Miley accumulated 38 wins in his first four years with Arizona, and he is back in Milwaukee again after playing for the Brew Crew in 2018. He made 16 starts in that 2018 campaign with the Brewers and only suffered two total defeats in his time there so he is probably glad to wear their uniform again.

As far as the bats are going lately, Arizona is likely favoured so strongly because they did pound the Dodgers the last 3 days and all resulted in wins. Arizona poured 29 runs on the Dodgers over the last 3 days, but again, it’s my lack of confidence in Gallen and my expectation for Miley to be the difference in this game. I see the Brewers coming away with this win when the final out is recorded which will improve their record to 8 – 2 keeping them in first place in their division for a little longer.

No one is looking at the standings yet because there are only about 150 games left to play this year, but it is still nice to see your organization at the top at any point of the campaign. Ultimately, none of that will matter when October arrives because that’s the only time of the year that you need to be on top and try to stay there when the post-season arrives.
