Philadelphia Eagles v Miami Dolphins Same-Game Parlay, Opta Stats, Player Props

The Philadelphia Eagles (6-1) strengthened their grip atop the NFC last weekend, dispatching the Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football to take sole control of the #1 seed, and now they face a trip to Maryland to take on their divisional rival Washington Commanders (3-4) who are looking to bounce back after a demoralising defeat to the New York Giants in Week 7.

Our resident NFL expert Joshua Jones has a 4.50 same-game parlay that sees both running-backs playing an important role…

Washington Commanders v Philadelphia Eagles Same-Game Parlay: AJ Brown Dominates Again

AJ Brown Over 88.5 Receiving Yards

It was a disappointing visit to New York for the Washington Commanders, falling to a 14-7 defeat at the hands of the Giants in a game they were favoured to win by three.

Riverboat Ron’s guys never really got going on offence – surrendering another six QB sacks for Sam Howell – while their defense was made to look tragic once again by backup QB Tyrod Taylor and a New York Giants passing attack that hadn’t really done anything up until this point in the season.

The Philadelphia Eagles got back to winning ways last weekend with an impressive – if a little controversial – victory over offensive powerhouse the Miami Dolphins, moving to 6-1 on the season and taking sole control of the National Football Conference.

The ‘Birds’ ran out 30-17 winners on Sunday Night Football, thanks in no small part to another dominating performance from AJ Brown – who is making a serious case for consideration as the NFL’s best wide receiver so far this season.

The Ole Miss graduate has been electric through the first seven games of the year, and has hit astronomical heights across his last five. The 137 yards he racked up in their win over Miami made it five consecutive games with at least 125 yards – tying the record previously set by Calvin Johnson in 2012.

The former Tennessee Titan has averaged 96.1 yards per game since making the switch to Philadelphia, and now faces a Commanders defense that has allowed 191.0 yards per game to wide receivers – the 4th highest mark in the league. He has, of course, already embarrassed this unit once this season too, racking up a season-high 175 receiving yards on nine receptions in their Week 4 meeting.

DeVonta Smith 4+ Receptions

It’s not just AJ Brown that teams have to be wary of in Philadelphia’s pass-catching corps either, as DeVonta Smith has proven a reliable pair of hands for the Eagles since he was drafted in 2021 and looked to make a big leap forward in his development when Brown joined the team.

Smith is averaging 4.6 receptions a game so far in 2023, and has hit this mark in six of the seven starts he’s made this year. In fact, he’s managed at least four catches in 15 of 16 regular season games dating back to Week 9 of the 2022 season, and this divisional rival has been a really nice match-up for him too recently too.

In three meetings since the beginning of last year, the Alabama graduate has averaged seven catches for 95 yards against the Commanders defence and should be in line for another nice day here.

D’Andre Swift 3+ Receptions

Another man that should be in line for a good day against this woeful Commanders defence is former Detroit Lions running-back D’Andre Swift. The Eagles naturally target their dual-threat RB in the passing game a bunch, and he ranks highly among those of his ilk.

Swift ranks joint-third for most receptions among running-backs (only beaten by Alvin Kamara and Rachaad White) with 26 through seven games at an average of 3.7 per game.

His usage has been slowly increasing though as he has beaten out Kenneth Gainwell as RB1 in Philadephia’s backfield, and he’s now hit at least three receptions in four straight – averaging 5.25 per game in that stretch.
