The Penn State Nittany Lions and Ole Miss Rebels square off for the Peach Bowl trophy on Saturday afternoon, as each team will be trying to win their 11th game of the campaign. Our resident college hoops expert Ej Garr is here to break down the Peach Bowl, as one of these programs is chasing a major milestone while the other needs to snap a 2-bowl losing streak.

The first of four bowl games on the day, Ej is predicting a low-scoring Peach Bowl, so let’s see why he is pointing to the total to take home the dough.

PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS VS OLE MISS REBELS PICKS

The proud Penn State defense prepares for the Ole Miss Rebel offense as the two clash in the Peach Bowl on Saturday afternoon, and the Lions are trying to etch their name in the history books. With a Peach Bowl win, the Nittany Lions will become the first program to win all six of the New Years Six Bowls.

Penn State Head Coach James Franklin knows what it takes to get his team to compete in meaningful bowl games, as he has now guided the Nittany Lions to a bowl in 9 of his 10 years in Happy Valley.

Franklin has done with his defense leading the way, and as anyone can see in the rankings, the Lions are as good as it gets in the entire NCAA. Ranked #1 in yards allowed per game (223.2), total yards per play (3.9), and overall defense, it is no mystery how the Lions plan on winning football games. Keep the score low and do enough on offense to come away with the dub.
The Lions only two losses in 2023 came against Michigan and Ohio State,,and Ole Miss only lost their two games against Georgia and Alabama. That is pretty impressive, and now I think the dfefenses will rule this year’s Peach Bowl.

Ole Miss Head Coach Lane Kiffin has been proud of the fact that none of his players have opted out of the bowl game over the last two seasons in Oxford. If you have been reading recent news, he thought he was headed for a third straight season without losing anyone but Cedric Johnson has told the team that he won’t be suiting up for the Peach Bowl.

Johnson tied for the team lead in sacks with 5.5, and he accumulated 19 overall sacks in his four seasons with the Rebels. He will be putting his name in the 2024 NFL Draft hat, but as far as we know he is the only Rebel sitting out of the Peach Bowl.

Jaxon Dart is ready to take the Ole Miss offense into battle, and he does bring a legitimate cast of characters to the show to help him. Quinshon Judkins picked up 1,052 rushing yards for the campaign, and with 15 scoots to the end zone he also caught a TD pass this year. Judkins isn’t known for being an active participant in the passing game yet, but the guy I think we all will enjoy watching is #9.

#9! Calling number 9! Sorry, had a Beatles moment, but anyway, Tre Harris has brought in 8 TD passes this year, and with the two he picks up in the Peach Bowl that will make him a double-digit guy. If you are a fantasy guy and play college football lines, add this dude to your card because he will score!

While I like this Under to possibly sneak in, I can’t trust that Penn State can shut down Ole Miss for 60 minutes. The Nittany Lions got to take advantage of some pretty bad offenses in the Big Ten, so it is easy to accumulate numbers against bad teams.

I am calling for a 27 – 24 game, so I expect a close contest that comes down to the final kick of the contest. That is what makes this total a touch call because it will be that close. I see Bet365 is offering the +5.5 and the line is only 1.89, so that works for me. You should all know that i love a handful of points in my pocket to go try and cash another ticket!
