NFL Week 8 Parlay Picks: Game Lines Parlay at 12.73 Odds

NFL Week 8 Parlay Picks: Game Lines Parlay at 12.73 Odds
IMAGO / Icon Sportswire Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown (11) beats Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (39) for a touchdown during the game between the Pittsburg Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s a full slate of games in the NFL this weekend with no teams on a bye week, and the earlier than usual 5pm slate is headlined by the LA Rams heading to face America’s team the Dallas Cowboys in Texas, though the New York mid-off between the Giants and the Jets is off some interest too.

The late window sees the flailing San Francisco 49ers welcome the resurgent Cincinatti Bengals to ‘the bay’ before their fellow Californians Los Angeles Chargers welcome the Chicago Bears – equaling their longest win-streak (1) since Week 2 2022 – to SoFi Stadium.

Monday Night Football comes from the ‘Motor City’ as the Detroit Lions host the Las Vegas Raiders, with Dan Campbell’s squad looking to rectify their Week 7 humbling at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens.

Reminder: the clocks have gone back in the UK so games are an hour earlier.

Washington Commanders vs Philadelphia Eagles: AJ Brown Is A Stud

United States, NFL, Sunday, October 29th, 17:00 (UK)

It’s a divisional rematch for these NFC East rivals, as the #1 seed Philadelphia Eagles (6-1) travel to Maryland to take on the Washington Commanders (3-4), looking to really establish their dominance atop the NFC standings.

It was yet another disappointing loss for Riverboat Ron last Sunday, as the Commanders managed just one score in their 14-7 defeat at the hands of the previously 1-5 New York Giants – with Sam Howell taking six more sacks on his way to a record-breakingly painful season.

Washington’s QB is on course to shatter the single-season sack record, having suffered 40 in just seven games, and is projected to take 97 sacks across the 17-game season – 21 more than David Carr’s 76 in 16 games.

Amazingly, he could avoid taking a single sack against the Eagles and he’d still be on course to break the record. Unfortunately for him, Philadelphia’s pass-rush just keeps getting better and, considering they managed five in what was a quiet game for them in their Week 4 meeting, it could be a seriously long day for the 2022 fifth-round pick.

The Birds took care of business on Sunday Night Football, toppling the rampant Miami Dolphins 30-17 to move to sole leaders of the NFC following defeats for both Detroit and San Francisco.

Philadelphia’s defence was really in the zone in that game, holding the Dolphins to just 244 yards – their lowest mark of the season – and allowing just 12 first downs as they held the league’s best offence to just 10 points.

This allowed their offence – kitted out in the wonderful Kelly Green throwback jerseys – to get to work at what they do best, dominating the time of possession with over 36 minutes and letting Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown go to work.

Someone ought to investigate Eagles GM Howie Roseman because the way he robbed the Tennessee Titans when acquiring Brown had to be criminal. The Ole Miss graduate registered his fifth consecutive game with at least 125 receiving yards – only the second man ever to do it, after Calvin Johnson in 2012 – and now looks to feast on a Commanders side that are giving up chunk plays at an alarming rate.

Their week-by-week logs are as follows:

  • Week 1 vs Cardinals: Rondale Moore – 31 yards
  • Week 2 @ Broncos: Marvin Mims Jr – 60 yards & 53 yards, Brandon Johnson Jr – 50 yards
  • Week 3 vs Bills: Gabe Davis – 35 yards, Stefon Diggs – 30 yards
  • Week 4 @ Eagles: AJ Brown – 59 yards, DeVonta Smith – 37 yards
  • Week 5 vs Bears: DJ Moore – 58 yards, 56 yards, 39 yards & 32 yards
  • Week 6 @ Falcons: Drake London – 32 yards
  • Week 7 @ Giants: Jalin Hytatt – 42 yards & 33 yards, Saquon Barkley – 32 yards

Brown has managed a reception of Over 30.5 yards in four straight, and has done so in 10 of his last 13 regular season games dating back to Week 13 last year.

I’d also take a small chance on AJ Brown’s longest reception to be 40 yards or more at 3.25. He has cleared this mark in three of his last four games – including the 59-yarder in their Week 4 meeting – and the Commanders have given up a chunk play of at least 40 yards in four of their last six games.

  • Selection: AJ Brown Longest Reception: Over 30.5 Yards
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Seattle Seahawks vs Cleveland Browns: Defence Knows Best In The West

United States, NFL, Sunday, October 29th, 20:05 (UK)

The Seattle Seahawks (4-2) used their opportunity to ‘get right’ to full effect as they dispatched the Arizona Cardinals last weekend, but now face arguably their toughest test of the season when they welcome the NFL’s #1 ranked defence to the Clink as the Cleveland Browns (4-2) are in town.

The visitors played one of the most ridiculous games of the NFL season so far at the Indiannapolis Colts last Sunday, eventually running out 39-38 winners by scoring a controversial touchdown with 15 seconds to go in regulation.

The officials basically handed Cleveland the game in that final drive, hitting Colts CB Darrell Baker Jr with back-to-back penalties overturning a DeForrest Buckner fumble recovery on 3rd and 4 before an egregious defensive pass interference call gave Cleveland 1st and goal from the 1-yard line.

Seattle, meanwhile, took care of business as expected – marching into Phoenix and letting Kenneth Walker have his way with the Arizona Cardinals defence. The second-year back ran for 105 yards on 26 carries, helping the Seahawks to a 20-10 victory, though it didn’t all go their way.

Pete Carroll’s side lost the turnover battle 3-0, including two RedZone turnovers for QB Geno Smith, but were able to rely on their stout defense to keep the Joshua Dobbs led Cardinals to just 10 points.

It’s hard to know what to make of the Hawks given the opponents they’ve faced – with three of their wins this season coming against sides ranked in the bottom five, per DVOA, in the NFL. Their only win of note came in overtime against the Lions, and even dating back to last season beating Detroit has been their only result of any real significance.

What should concern Seattle is how the Browns defence matches up with Geno Smith. 2022’s Comeback Player of the Year sees a stark difference in performance when facing man coverage vs zone coverage. His elite rating against zone coverage likely fails him against a Cleveland defence that employs a league-leading amount of man coverage.

The Seahawks rank 32nd in yards per attempt against man (compared to 3rd vs zone) and are banged up at wide receiver, with DK Metcalf working his way back from a couple of injuries and Tyler Lockett sitting out of practice on Wednesday.

The Browns defence is legit and, aside from one game with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson under centre, Cleveland has covered this spread in all five of their matches this year. I said earlier in the season that all Deshaun Watson has to do for the Browns to be a serious side is be a serviceable quarterback and that’s exactly what PJ Walker has done in his absence. Take the Browns to cover a field goal in what should be a low scoring game.

  • Selection: Cleveland Browns +3.5 Points
  • Best Odds: 1.90

  • Stake: 4/10

Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs: Pacheco Runs Angry At Mile High

United States, NFL, Sunday, October 29th, 20:25 (UK)

The Kansas City Chiefs (6-1) took sole control of the AFC with a thumping 31-17 victory over divisional rivals LA Chargers in Week 7, and now face another divisional rival in the Denver Broncos (2-5) at Mile High.

The Broncos sealed their second victory of the season, outlasting the Green Bay Packers in a 19-17 slugfest that was sealed by PJ Locke’s first career interception on his return from injured reserve. The 2019 UDFA was only in the game following Kareem Jackson’s ejection but read Jordan Love’s intentions perfectly on an unnecessary desperation heave to give Denver the win.

The Chiefs, meawnhile, took care of business as they have done all season – being the better team in all three facets of the game – to dispatch what has been a disappointing Chargers team so far in 2023.

Travis Kelce had himself an absolutely ridiculous game with Taylor Swift in attendance, picking up 179 receiving yards and a score on 12 receptions to celebrate ‘National Tight Ends Day’ in style. It was Kelce’s second consecutive game with over 100 yards through the air following his 124-yarder against the Broncos at Arrowhead in Week 6.

Another player that enjoyed his match-up with Denver earlier this year was Isiah Pacheco, who picked up 98 all-purpose yards in their Thursday Night Football matchup – with 36 of those coming through the air.

The RB out of Rutgers has established himself as a legitimate weapon in the passing-game in his sophomore year with the Chiefs, having already eclipsed his season total from 2022. He averaged 7.6 yards per game receiving last year, but that has shot up to 23.3 per game this year and it seems the market hasn’t yet adjusted.

Pacheco has hit at least 16 yards through the air in five of his seven starts so far this year, and faces a Denver defence here that allows the 3rd most receiving yards to RBs so far this season at 55.0 per game.

Green Bay Packers duo AJ Dllon (34 yards) and Aaron Jones (22 yards) both obliterated this mark last weekend, and they certainly aren’t the only ones to enjoy success against the Broncos this year.

RBs that have hit this line against Denver this year include: Josh Jacobs (23 yards) in Week 1, Antonio Gibson (44 yards) and Brian Robinson Jr (42 yards) in Week 2, Raheem Mostert (60 yards) and De’Von Achane (30 yards) in Week 3, Khalil Herbert (19 yards) in Week 4, Breece Hall (17 yards) in Week 5, Jerick McKinnon (20 yards) and Pacheco himself (36 yards) in Week 6, plus the Packers duo above.

  • Selection: Isiah Pacheco Over 15.5 Receiving Yards
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 5/10

San Francisco 49ers vs Cincinatti Bengals: Big Cats Are Big Dogs In The Bay

United States, NFL, Sunday, October 29th, 20:25 (UK)

The San Francisco 49ers fell to a second consecutive disappointing loss on Monday Night Football and will be looking to get back to winning ways against a resurgent Cincinatti Bengals (3-3) coming off their bye week.

Kyle Shanahan has lost two in a row for the first time since Week 7 2022 and will be looking to stop the rot with a return to Levi Stadium, though he might have to do it without his starting quarterback and several of his key offensive pieces once again.

Brock Purdy entered concussion protocol on Wednesday afternoon following a hit he took in their 22-17 defeat at the Minnesota Vikings – which may help explain his pair of game-ending interceptions. It’s thought Mr. Irrelevant picked up the injury on a 4th quarter QB sneak that was immediately followed by an inexplicable interception.

It means Sam Darnold likely gets the start, which has brought this line in from 5.5 to 3.5, and he could be without both Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams after the pair missed MNF with injuries they sustained in the win against the Browns.

As the Niners lose key offensive pieces, it seems the Bengals are finally getting healthier. Joe Burrow has looked closer to the player that led this side to the 2021 Super Bowl and now coming off a bye week he should be the healthiest he has been all season.

He also gains a much healthier Tee Higgins, while OT Orlando Brown Jr – ther big free agency splash signing from the Kansas City Chiefs – was limited in practice on Wednesday as he looks to make his first appearance of the year for Zac Taylor’s side.

The Bengals have won two straight and should be able to target the 49ers secondary in a similar way to the Vikings on MNF – who took advantage of Jordan Addison’s match-up with Charvarius Ward. The rookie had by far the best game of his short career, recording a pair of huge receiving TDs – including a highlight reel play that saw him snatch the ball from the defensive back for a 60-yard score.

The Niners struggled to put Kirk Cousins under any pressure in that game, which allowed him to slice and dice them through the air, and Joe Burrow should be able to do the same against a unit thats reeling and may have their thoughts focused on getting to their bye week and preparing for an insanely difficult run from mid-November until Boxing Day.

  • Selection: Cincinnati Bengals +3.5 Points
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 4/10
