NCAA Football Week 8 Parlay Picks: A Pair of Totals From Out West

NCAA Football Week 8 Parlay Picks: A Pair of Totals From Out West
IMAGO / Panthermedia The american football players in action.

With another pair of totals to suggest from this Saturday’s round of NCAA football matches, Ej is headed to the West Coast to find sunshine and fireworks this weekend. We have arrived at Week 8 of the NCAA Football campaign, and Ej is on a plane to California to pick out two games in which he expects plenty of points to hit the scoreboards.

Starting in sunny San Diego, the Aztecs are hosting the Wolfpack, and Nevada should not be mentioned with the word defense in anyone’s preview unless it is to rip them to shreds for dysfunction.

UCLA and Stanford meet for a Pac-12 battle at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, and with a total as low as 54.5 the line setters will have to pay for it! Let’s see why Ej thinks as much, as his two-game combo can be played with odds of 3.64 if you combine his two tips for Saturday.

San Diego State vs Nevada Wolfpack : AZTECS AND WOLFPACK SET TO SMASH THE TOTAL

San Diego State’s offense hasn’t been the standout of the program thus far, but we did see some good things out of them last weekend, albeit against Hawaii. With a 41-point effort posted in Honolulu, the Aztecs return home to face another team that has been a sieve on the defens… No, I said we cannot say defense and Nevada in the same sentence!! HA!

If you love looking at those rankings, look at the Nevada stats on that side of the ball, and tell me what you see. There are 133 FBS teams, and you will see a 120+ ranking on the defensive side of the ball all through the stats for the Wolfpack.

Allowing 443.9 yards per game, which lists Nevada in the 122nd spot in the rankings, and the Wolfpack are ranked 123rd in yards per rush and passing yards allowed per game. The list goes on but we have better things to do than discuss the rankings.

Last weekend was a big rivalry game for the Wolfpack facing UNLV, and the 45 – 27 loss revealed even more about how easy it is to score on Nevada this year. UNLV’s Jayden Maiava. had nearly a perfect game throwing the ball around the field against the Wolfpack, and the Aztecs are going to have similar success on Saturday at home.

Jaylen Mayden has to start producing a better product and soon. The Aztec QB has been the description of mediocrity, and let’s just put it out there that running the ball has been quite the uphill battle for San Diego State this year too. While it’s nice to have such a dual-threat option as Mayden may be, he is being asked to do too much, and the hits are adding up. He is suffering from a lack of talent around him this year, and the running game has to also start finding more success.

Jaylon Armstead is doing an excellent job of finding the end zone out of the Aztec backfield, but he also has about 4 TD runs of a yard or two in that mix. Even last weekend, the defense scored and the Aztecs were held to field goals time and again, so yes, I understand anyone’s concern regarding the Aztec offense.

Luckily, this is a game in which both teams should be able to move the ball well, so expect about a 38 – 24 type of game to take place with the total flying over the 47.5 along the way.

UCLA Bruins vs Stanford Cardinal: ANOTHER PAC-12 TOTAL TO FLY OVER IN PASADENA

The UCLA Bruins will play host to the Stanford Cardinal at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA, on Saturday night, this being one of the last games of the night on the West Coast. As 17-point home favourites, the Bruins are expected to have plenty of success at home against a struggling Stanford team that just picked up only their second win of the campaign last weekend.

After losing 4 straight games headed into last weekend’s game with Colorado, the Cardinal found themselves down 29 – 0 at halftime against the heavily favoured Buffaloes. Not uncommon to what we have seen throughout the campaign, the Colorado defense proved that no lead is safe as the Cardinal escaped Boulder with a win. 46 – 43.

Momentum like that can be inspiring to a team that just mounted an epic comeback to get a win on the road, and a stage like the Rose Bowl is a great place to have a big night that folks remember for years to come. Make no mistake that just because the Rose Bowl is seemingly just another stadium in NCAA Football, it is not and the history of this building brings out the best in people who play on this field today.

I love the fact that the line setters are completely disrespecting Stanford in this spot because they will manage to find their fair share of success moving the ball on Saturday. Ashton Daniels was a huge part of the comeback success in the win last weekend, tossing the rock around the yard for nearly 400 yards overall along with 4 TD strikes in the second half.

Elik Ayomanor toppled the 500-yard mark in receiving yards with his incredible effort against Colorado last weekend. The dude amassed 294 of his 501 yards for the season in one day, and 3 scoots to paydirt came from 13 grabs from the arm of Mr. Daniels.

UCLA came out the gate last weekend flat, and they never seemed to look inspired against Oregon State the entire game. I watched most of that contest with my own eyes, and Dante Moore didn’t exactly show me how good he is with that poor effort. The Beavers picked off Moore a trio of times, and Logan Loya led all receivers with only 48 yards in the loss to Oregon State, 36 – 24.

That kind of visual told me all that I needed to know about why I would be choosing this game to post the Over, and if you want to add Stanford in a same-game combo with that stupid handicap on your side, do that too!

This will be a game that comes down to the fourth quarter, and I foresee a 37 – 30 type of game to transpire at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night in Pasadena! Play it accordingly!
