NCAA Football Week 5 Parlay Picks: Totals Betting For The Weekend

NCAA Football Week 5 Parlay Picks: Totals Betting For The Weekend
IMAGO / Panthermedia The american football player in action model released

We have arrived at Week 5 of the NCAA football season, and Ej has picked out a pair of totals to combine that amount to a 3.65 offer for Saturday. Boise State travels to Memphis to take on the Tigers and the Texas State Bobcats will visit Southern Mississippi, so points will be expected to light up the scoreboard from both of these fixtures on Saturday.

Let’s take it to the field and see how Ej came up with these two gems so everyone can enjoy a winning weekend.

Memphis Tigers vs Boise State Broncos: TIGERS AND BRONCOS AND POINTS, OH MY!

The Memphis Tigers will play host to the Boise State Broncos as this non-conference battle has the signs of a high-scoring affair. That’s precisely what I expect to see transpire when these two programs take the Liberty Stadium field on Saturday night.

Despite the loss to Missouri last weekend, 34 – 37, the Tigers have still managed to put up 148 points through the first four games of the 2023 campaign and they should have no problem adding to that number on Saturday against the Broncos.

Memphis QB Seth Henigan didn’t get a lick of help from his backfield last weekend, and it forced him to throw the ball 47 times against Missouri. The three TD passes look great on paper, but the pair of interceptions were both costly in a game that came down to the final possession.

Henigan’s gunslinger mentality can both work for him and against him, which is why you see his 8TD passes to 5 INT ratio for the season. Seth has two seasons under his belt with the Tigers, and he has never totalled more than 8 interceptions in either of those former years. He is on pace for about 12 INT if he doesn’t start to take care of the ball being careful to turn the ball over.

The Broncos attack the line of scrimmage with the run game, and they used it to their advantage last weekend while sneaking out a 34 – 31 win over San Diego State. After watching Missouri tear up the Tigers’ defence for over 200 yards rushing last weekend, the Broncos will be putting up similar numbers on Saturday and that is how we will see the points add up. I am not afraid of a running clock eating up the time when the Broncos run the ball time and again because they’ll be picking up yards in chunks as the plays go by.

I expect this game to end with somewhere near 70 points, so if the line setters tell me that we only need 60 to cash the ticket, that is sold!

Southern Miss Eagles vs Texas State Bobcats: EAGLES AND BOBCATS SET FOR A SHOOTOUT

We now turn our attention to the Southern Miss Eagles vs Texas State Bobcats game. Speaking of offence, HELLO! This is a game that will clear 70 points without a doubt in my mind, and we’ve already seen Texas State smash out 77 points IN ONE GAME ALONE! Granted that was a game against FCS competition, which I still don’t know why those games are played, but anyway.

That kind of success only builds confidence no matter the competition level across the field, and I don’t see why Texas State can’t smash out at least 40+ points in this game. Southern Miss sits at the bottom of the Sun Belt standings, allowing 145 points through only 4 games.

After allowing 66 points to Florida State in Week 2, the Eagles gave up another 44 points to Arkansas State last weekend resulting in another loss for Southern Miss.

Despite the loss last weekend, the Eagles still managed to put up 37 points with a well-balanced attack. Southern Miss totalled 234 rushing yards and 215 passing yards against the Red Wolves, and then we can talk about the madness that was last weekend’s game for Texas State!

The Bobcats managed to lose the first half against an absolutely rubbish Nevada team last weekend, down 17 – 0 before the offence finally woke up in what amounted to a 35 – 24 win.

That won’t happen this weekend, and I don’t see Southern Miss being able to repeat anything like what happened to Texas State last weekend. Let’s keep in mind that when GJ Kinne took over the Bobcats program a season ago, all he did was lead the #1 offence IN ALL OF FBS FOOTBALL! Name them, they were behind the Bobcats!

Whatever halftime speech he gave last weekend to wake his kids up after getting down 17 – 0, I imagine he won’t have to make a similar speech on Saturday. Texas State will not come out of this gate slowly, and I expect them to pick up right where they left off last weekend.

Scoring 35 points might not seem all that impressive on paper, but all of it happened in one half so can you imagine what that score would have been without the slow start to the game?

T.J. Finley fell only 5 yards shy of the 300-yard passing mark last weekend, and the Auburn transfer is already over 1,000 yards through 4 games. His 8 – 1 TD to INT ratio is outstanding, and I think he is going to be licking his chops to get on this field on Saturday.

Here is my prediction… 40 – 33 is your final score and another 70+ points will slap the scoreboard on Saturday in Hattiesburg. I think that Texas State’s -3 first half is also a great play to make in this spot because they are going to reverse what happened to them last weekend.
