Tulane Green Wave vs South Alabama Jaguars Game: Get Ready FOR AN OFFENSIVE CLASH
When I saw this total set at a mere 52, I knew this was going to be the first of my tips from all of the Saturday affairs taking place. There are a boatload of games being played on Saturday, but I am picking out this total because I expect them to have all 52 of these points in the books with a quarter to spare.
Let’s start wit the fact that both of these programs landed in bowl games a year ago, and they each managed to pull off double-digit victories for the campaign. Tulane finished the 2022 season with a 46 – 45 win over USC in the Cotton Bowl, and their 12 – 2 record overall set the tone for a big 2023 to come.
So, the question is can they repeat or better that result, and that is simply not going to be an easy task in 2023. The offense looks to be in good shape, and that bodes well for a team trying to get back to the AAC title game with a big bowl appearance to follow again.
Tulane isn’t favoured to win the AAC this year, as UTSA and SMU appear as the two teams that could clash in this year’s AAC Championship game, but that is a long way from now for everyone.
Michael Pratt started 13 games last year, and he just snuck over the 3,000-yard passing mark to finish the campaign with a 27 – 5 TD to INT ratio. Pratt has a combined 33 starts overall, and his confidence should be high considering Tulane Head Coach Willie Fritz considers this the best offensive line he’s had since taking over in the Bayou.
Carter Bradley also made 13 starts for the Jags a season ago, and he has four of his offensive line mates back for another year. On top of that, Jaguars’ Head Coach Kane Wommack attacked the SEC for offensive line experience, and he found a trio of players to contribute out of the highly respected conference
A handful of SEC offensive linemen have made the move to Mobile, whether some consider it a downgrade or not. Reed Buys and Lucas Taylor made the move from Mississippi State this off-season, as both players wanted to see more time on the field than they were expected to see for the Bulldogs.
The backfield is in such good shape for the Jaguars with La’Damian Webb toting the rock again this year. Webb was a 1st-Team SBC Award Winner in 2022 with 1063 rushing yards in only 10 games played in 2022.
Caullin Lacy and Devin Voison will be joined by 4-year receiver Javon Ivory from Memphis, and that trio is going to go bonkers with Bradley at the helm.
Expect the Tulane vs S. Alabama game to an old-fashioned shootout with well over 52 Points being scored.
San Jose State vs Oregon State: OREGON STATE OFFENSE READY TO DOMINATE
I just helped us cash a nice ticket with San Jose State when they played USC last weekend, remember? We had the Overall total and both team totals on the board and all three of them came in easily for us.
I am picking on this Spartans defense again and take note that this is one of the few Sunday matches being played which we rarely see on the schedule. Usually, Sunday is the NFL day and we don’t see many NCAA football games on the board. The NFL starts its new campaign next weekend, so football in the United States will be seeing tons of betting action, here and where ever you may be.
I am pointing to this total to fly over the 54,5 points, and Oregon State has an offense this year that is going to put up points in droves. Dj Uiagalelei has left the Clemson Tigers but still loves Orange enough to sport an Oregon State Beavers jersey this year.
That is quite a name to find in the transfer portal, and Beavers’ Head Coach Jonathan Smith probably can’t believe how lucky he is to grab such a player is Uiagalelei is. With 28 starts with the Tigers before landing in Corvallis, Uiagalelei brings a Championship mentality to the field from his experience at Clemson.
The offensive line numbers for the Beavers over the last 3 campaigns has been impressive, as they were a 2021 Joe Moore Award Candidate as they will be this upcoming season. Here’s a stat! Over the last 5 seasons with Jonathan Smith as the Head Coach, Oregon State has needed to fill 280 offensive line starts. Only 20 starts have been lost to injuries and this year’s class has a combined 109 starts in the trenches.
I love experienced offensive lines, and the Beavers have one and then some.
I just covered the first San Jose State game last Saturday as they took on USC, and as I mentioned we came away from that game with a trio of cashed tickets in our pockets.
This might just be a similar result to the 56 – 28 pounding that the Spartans were handed last Saturday by the Trojans, so expect plenty of scoring to take place on Sunday in San Jose.
Chevan Cordiero brings 4 years of starting quarterback experience to the Spartans offense, and he now has his first game under his belt since transferring over from Hawaii. Cordiero only amassed a total of 198 passing yards against the USC defense last weekend, but he did manage to throw a trio of touchdown passes without being intercepted against a USC team with title aspirations this year.
I expect another high-scoring affair involing the Spartans, and we only need to see 55 points hit the board to splash this second bet in the water!
