NCAA FOOTBALL 2023/24 Heisman Trophy Winner Odds: Thursday, August 24th
The ultimate reward for a young college athlete who plays college football comes when your name is called to lift the Heisman Trophy!
While there are other awards handed out such as the AP Player of the Year or the Maxwell along with Walter Camp honors that all recognize the top players in NCAA football, the Heisman Trophy has been given out since 1935 and we could see a repeat winner for the first time since 1975!
Bettingexpert’s college football expert EJ Garr takes a look at this year’s Heisman trophy winner odds and gives his thoughts on the best candidate you can back. For more college football odds, tips and analysis visit the bettingexpert community or our Expert Insights section.

NCAA Football 2023 Heisman Trophy Winner Odds Analysis
Let’s start where most people will begin their Heisman Trophy previews for this upcoming campaign, and that name is Caleb Williams. Williams has last year’s trophy sitting at home, and now he is in a position to join Archie Griffin (1974-75) as the only two-time award winner.
Williams is a stud, and his coach only produces Heisman candidates time and again. USC Head Coach Lincoln Riley has already produced three Heisman Trophy winners and a finalist who finished second in the voting, so he just knows how to get the most out of his quarterbacks.
While Williams is the odds-on favourite to earn his second Heisman Trophy Award, I am not going to predict that he can defend his title this season. The Trojans are loaded with talent but so are the Florida State Seminoles.
Listen, I will predict that through the first half of the campaign, Williams will be making big headlines but then the second half of the year will come. The Trojans’ schedule to begin the season is so full of cupcakes that they will be heavily favoured in every game until they get to the October 14th meeting with Notre Dame.
That’s when the wheels will fall off the wagon because Utah, Washington, and Oregon will follow the Irish and those are all programs that have high aspirations for 2023. Washington has their own Hesiman candidate in Michael Penix Jr., and he is also poised to put up some big numbers in the Pac-12 Conference.
THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING AN EXPERIENCED OFFENSIVE LINE
Anyone who follows this sport, along with the NFL, knows that an offensive line is where the real story starts for any offense. A team can have all the talent in the world as the skills positions but if a QB has no time to throw and the running game poses no threat, there is no chance to win football games, period, end of story!
Well, let’s discuss the Florida State offensive line players who are returning for this upcoming season, and then you’ll know why Jordan Travis will be winning the 2023 Heisman Trophy!
206! What does 206 mean? The Noles’ offensive line is returning a list of players that have 206 starts under their belts in NCAA football. That number is so stupid I have no words, and that is rare for me, HA!
I mean, look around the entire landscape of college football for decades, and that kind of a number is something we just never see, and we might not see it again.
- LT Robert Scott (Sr) – 29 starts, 2nd-Team All-ACC last year.
- LG Casey Roddick (Sr) – 30 starts over the L4 Years with Colorado
- C Mo Smith (Jr) – 29 starts over the last 4 years, 3rd-Team All-ACC last year
- RG D’Mitri Emmanuel (Sr) – 37 starts, 2nd-Team All-ACC last year
- RT Jeremiah Byers (Jr) – 30 starts over the L4 Years with UTEP
Backup RG Keiondre Jones – 22 starts over the L3 Years with Auburn
Florida State has also brought in scattered players with starting experience along with those 6 gentlemen, and that is just astounding.
WHY JORDAN TRAVIS WILL WIN THE 2023 HEISMAN TROPHY
Jordan Travis is going to be the victor who belongs to the spoils, and that points us to the Heisman Trophy Winner!
Travis has 26 career starts to his credit, 13 of which came last season as he too earned 2nd-team All-ACC honors. With a 24 – 5 TD to INT ratio while completing 64% of his attempts, all of those numbers are going to improve in 2023.
The Noles are returning 3 of their top-6 wide receivers from a season ago, although the losses of Mycah Pittman and Ontaria Wilson hurt a bit. Jaheim Bell brings three years of experience at tight end transferring over from South Carolina, and Keon Coleman will be a dependable pass-catcher from Michigan State.
Johnny Wilson was also a 2nd-team All-ACC wide receiver last year, as he brought in 897 yards averaging almost 21 YPC!
Trey Benson put up 990 rushing yards a season ago after transferring in from Oregon, so with this offensive line experience to support the ground game, he too, should smash that 1,000-yard mark in 2023.
FLORIDA STATE SCHEDULE FAVOURABLE FOR JORDAN TRAVIS TO WIN HEISMAN TROPHY
One thing I love is that the Noles open the campaign with a tough test against the LSU Tigers, but they get them in Orlando and not at Doak Walker. That could neutralize the crowd a bit because LSU travels well, and there will be plenty of seating for their fans too.
LSU is favoured by a field goal against the Seminoles when the two teams begin their campaigns on September 3, so an upset in this spot combined with a big game from Jordan Travis spells good things man, good things!
Watch for an early upset in the making for Florida State, and take that 12.10 offer from the bookmakers on Jordan Travis to go on and win this year’s Heisman Trophy Award.
