Los Angeles Chargers v Baltimore Ravens Same-Game Parlay: Ravens Run Riot In Inglewood

Lamar Jackson 225+ Passing Yards

Baltimore come into Sunday Night Football on extended rest, having dismantled divisional rival Cincinnati on Thursday Night Football in Week 11, and will be confident of heading into the bye week at 9-3 when they face LA’s 29th-ranked defence.

The Ravens had their fifth consecutive game with 30 or more points when they dropped 34 on the Joe Burrow-less Bengals to take sole control of the AFC and have been on an absolute tear since their drop-dominated loss at the Steelers in Week 5.

Lamar Jackson played wonderfully in that game despite only having 10 points to show for it, and that was mostly thanks to his receivers letting him down. They’ve cleaned up their acts since then, and have been one of the most dynamic units in the league – ranking as one of only seven sides to have more than 45 ‘explosive plays’ on the season.

It’s a stat that should worry Chargers fans everywhere, as they’ve been allowing every team they’ve faced to break off huge chunk plays – most recently allowing the Green Bay Packers to go up and down Lambeau Field at will and giving Jordan Love his career-best game.

In fact, Brandon Staley’s defence has been a wonderful day out for every quarterback they’ve faced, with several setting season-highs against LA. Alongside Jordan Love, Tua Tagovailoa (466), Patrick Mahomes (424), Tyson Bagent (232), and Zach Wilson (263) all set season-highs against them – with every QB to face the Chargers putting up more yards against them than their personal season-average, as shown below.

  • Week 1: Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins)
    Season Average: 293.4 yards
    vs the Chargers: 446 yards
  • Week 2: Ryan Tannehill (Tennessee Titans)
    Season Average: 188.0 yards
    vs the Chargers: 246 yards
  • Week 3: Kirk Cousins (Minnesota Vikings)
    Season Average: 291.4 yards
    vs the Chargers: 367 yards
  • Week 4: Aiden O’Connell (Las Vegas Raiders)
    Season Average: 189.2 yards
    vs the Chargers: 238 yards
  • Week 5: Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys)
    Season Average: 260.4 yards
    vs the Chargers: 272 yards
  • Week 6: Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs)
    Season Average: 261.9 yards
    vs the Chargers: 424 yards
  • Week 7: Zach Wilson (New York Jets)
    Season Average: 194.4 yards
    vs the Chargers: 263 yards
  • Week 8: Tyson Bagent (Chicago Bears)
    Season Average: 171.8 yards
    vs the Chargers: 232 yards
  • Week 9: Jared Goff (Detroit Lions)
    Season Average: 274.3 yards
    vs the Chargers: 333 yards
  • Week 10: Jordan Love (Green Bay Packers)
    Season Average: 233.1 yards
    vs the Chargers: 322 yards

Remarkably, every quarterback to face the Chargers defence has surpassed 225 yards, with the ten they’ve faced so far this year outperforming their ‘per game’ metrics by an average of 80.5 yards. With Lamar Jackson averaging 221.9 yards per game so far this year, rising to 235.2 since Week 5, I like his chances of going over 225 here against the league’s worst passing defence.

Gus Edwards Anytime Touchdown Scorer

Away from the passing game, something quite remarkable has been happening for Ravens running-back Gus Edwards – who is quietly enjoying the best season of his six-year NFL career.

The Bus has been benefitting massively from Todd Monken’s desire to protect Lamar Jackson, which has seen him awarded the bulk of goal-to-go carries, and he’s been making the most of his opportunity.

Edwards already has 10 touchdowns on the year, with nine of those coming in Baltimore’s last five games, and should get plenty of opportunities against a defence that has allowed 114 redzone plays to opponents – the 4th highest mark in the league.

Baltimore Ravens Over 2.5 Touchdowns

With yards and RedZone opportunities unlikely to come at a premium, it seems a no-brainer that Baltimore will also be able to put touchdowns on the board at will.

The Chargers have allowed opponents into the endzone at the 7th worst rate in the league, allowing 2.8 per game which rises to 3.0 per game at home – and that includes some of the horrible offences they have faced.

Against elite offences (Baltimore rank 4th, per DVOA) they are even worse. LA have faced four ‘Top 10’ ranked attacks through 10 weeks, and have been split wide open by them.

In games against the Dolphins (2nd), Lions (5th), Chiefs (7th), and Cowboys (10th), the Chargers have allowed 15 touchdowns (3.75 per game) – and have also given up three or more to the Titans, Vikings, and Packers.

Baltimore, on the other hand, have scored four or more touchdowns in five consecutive games – dating back to their 38-6 demolition of the Lions back in October.
