Scott Thornton provides his Liverpool vs PSG prediction preview ahead of the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie on Tuesday night.

Liverpool have one hand on the Premier League title after gaining more ground in the race with Arsenal over the weekend. They carry a lead into this clash with PSG but Arne Slot knows his team must improve on their display in Paris.

Luis Enrique chose to rest some of his key players in Ligue 1 over the weekend. They are up against it as they attempt to overcome a deficit at Anfield but the performance in the first leg will give them hope.

Liverpool vs PSG Prediction: The Visitors to Pick Up Where They Left Off

Europe, Champions League, Tuesday, March 11th, 20:00 (UK)

PSG were left wondering just how they didn’t manage to win the first leg against Liverpool. Luiz Enrique’s side were in the ascendency from the off. They racked up 27 shots to their opponents’ two but were unable to open the scoring. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half. They continued to pile on the pressure after that but Harvey Elliot netted the decisive goal on the counter.

Les Parisiens will approach the second leg in the same manner. Enrique knows his team are capable of taking the game to Liverpool and that’s what they will have to do if they are to turn this around. Therefore, we are backing the visitors double chance here.

Alisson’s heroics saved Liverpool in Paris. The Brazilian is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and he has lived up to that tag. However, it’s unlikely the PSG forwards will be as wasteful this time around.

Our bet is aided by the fact that a draw would be enough for Slot’s side to secure a place in the last eight. Liverpool have won 20 of their 23 home games across all competitions but PSG are the only team who have been able to put the Premier League leaders under the cosh for a sustained period.

The first leg was the only time that Liverpool have lost the xG battle in the Champions League this season. PSG finished the game with an expected goals tally of 1.78, while the Reds scored from an xG of just 0.27. Salah and co. should create more in front of their own fans. However,

Liverpool vs PSG Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups Prediction: A Full Squad for Enrique

Liverpool don’t have an extensive injury list coming into this one. Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez are both out, but neither would have earned a place in the starting 11. Cody Gakpo is closing in on a return from an ankle injury, but he’s unlikely to feature on Tuesday night.

Luis Enrique has a full strength squad to choose from. PSG have plenty of attacking options and the manager will need them all to perform if they are to upset the odds here. The players should be fresh for this one after the manager chose to rotate in the 4-1 win over Rennes on Saturday.

Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; MacAllister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Salah, Diaz, Jota

PSG possible starting lineup:
Donnarumma; Hakimi, Maquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Kvaratskhelia, Barcola, Dembele
