How Italy Qualified for Euro 2020

It was a perfect campaign for Italy in every sense, winning every single game in qualification, in a record-time – this will also mark the Azzurri’s return to a major competition, having missed out on the World Cup in 2018. Italy’s run of 10 wins in qualifying was done in-style, scoring nearly 40 goals, with the most notable results being the 9-1 vs Armenia and a 3-0 away win in Bosnia. Manager Roberto Mancini will know the pressure his side will have to live up to at Euro 2020.

How Wales Qualified for Euro 2020

Wales fans will no doubt be looking forward to a marquee match in Rome in what will be their second consecutive European Championship appearance. The intention from Ryan Giggs’ team will be to reach the knockouts and navigate out of Group A. The Welsh qualified for Euro 2020 finishing runners-up to Croatia – losing just twice, to Hungary and the Croats, both times away from home. Having reached the semi-finals four years ago, Wales know how to approach and win the ‘big’ games.

Italy vs Wales Stats and Analysis

Italy’s stats can only be bettered by Belgium in qualification, with the Azzurri scoring 37 goals in 10 games – an average of 3.70 goals per match, while only letting four goals past them, putting down a marker they are the team to beat.
Wales in comparison scored 27 less, with just 10 goals in eight (two games less than Italy) during qualification, an average of 1.25 per game. Both sides have proven to be defensively sound, with Wales conceding six and and Italy conceding just four goals on the path to this summer’s tournament.
Italy vs Wales will clash for the first time since their 2004 European Championship qualifying campaign, with Italy winning in Rome 4-0 and Wales winning in Cardiff 2-1.

Italy vs Wales Bet

Italy are the firm favourites when these two meet on the final matchday of Group A in front of what is expected to be a partisan crowd in Rome’s impressive Olimpico Stadium. Italy are unsurprisingly priced at 2/5 delivering very little profit, but if you’re backing Wales to upset the odds like they did four years ago, then odds of 5/1 will yield a very decent return indeed.
