PSG vs Girona Prediction 1: French champions to show their class and win comfortably
UEFA Champions League, Wednesday 18th September, 20:00 (UK)
PSG should show their superiority and class in this match. Backing the hosts on a -1.25 Asian Handicap feels like a great bet because this is a tough spot for the Spanish visitors. There was talk of doom and gloom in the summer when PSG lost Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid, but they have started the new campaign really strong. Luis Enrique’s men have won four out of four league games, all by at least a two goal margin and racked up an impressive 16 goals. The likes of Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani and Kang-in Lee have each bagged at least a brace of goals with new midfielder Joao Neves already up to four assists.
Girona will be very excited to be making their Champions League debut but they could get outclassed here. Some key players departed in the summer and it could be a year in which they regress a bit. Girona have been beaten heavily twice on the couple of occasions they’ve faced top class teams so far. Atletico Madrid racked up a 3-0 scoreline and they just lost 1-4 at home to Barcelona at the weekend. Their head coach Michel is a great technical coach and they will try to play on the front foot, but this could be to their detriment. PSG know the importance of winning home games in the Champions League and should continue their trend of winning each game by a two goal margin or more. The -1.25 handicap is a solid option in the French capital.

PSG vs Girona Prediction 2: Fast start expected in Paris
The overall match goal line of 3.25 could also be considered for the overs, but taking over 1.25 Asian goals in the first half also looks very appealing. There has been at least one first half goal scored in every single PSG and Girona league match this season and as a bare minimum we can expect that trend to continue. The last three PSG fixtures have all gone over 1.5 goals in the first half and we saw at the weekend Girona were trailing 0-2 at home to Barcelona at the interval.
Both teams like to play football on the front foot and this could be a high energy type of start at Le Parc des Princes. Girona aren’t the type of team to just sit back and waste time, they themselves will try and cause PSG some problems. There is a confidence in the home ranks which makes me think they can get at Girona early with a couple of goals. Barcelona showed a great blueprint at the weekend how to get on top of Michel’s side with an abundance of pressure. This may well be a solid over 3.5 type of match, in which case first half goals are likely to contribute.
- PSG vs Girona Prediction 2: Over 1.25 Asian goals first half (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.87

PSG vs Girona Prediction 3: Dembele to keep hot streak going
Ousmane Dembele is one of the most frustrating players in football from a fan’s perspective but also a betting perspective. The talent is there but consistency is a big problem for the French international. He can sometimes lack composure at the biggest of moments but on a good day he can make this game look very easy. One key thing to remember with him is that he’s a very streaky player who goes on hot streaks whilst his confidence is up.
Dembele had a great game for France against Belgium in the Nations League, weighing in with a goal and an assist. His finish for the goal was excellent and he took that sort of form into the weekend with a brace of goals against Brest. You can tell he was confident because he fired in a massive seven shots, of which seven were on target. We can expect something similar here and he looks like a massive price at 3.20 to score anytime. This is the sort of game in which he should get opportunities so let’s back him whilst his tail is up to hit the back of the net again.
- PSG vs Girona Prediction 3: Ousmane Dembele to score anytime (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 3.20
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 3/10

PSG vs Girona Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups: Donnarumma ruled out
First choice keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is ruled out so £20m Russian Matvey Safonov should start in between the sticks. PSG were missing midfielder Vitinha and Warren Zaire-Emery at the weekend but both could be in contention to play here, especially Vitinha. A place on the bench is the most likely outcome for both. The trio of Lucas Hernandez, Presnel Kimpembe and Goncalo Ramos are out with long term injuries.
Colombian midfielder Yengel Herrera could return to the Girona side after missing out against Barcelona at the weekend. The visitors should line up in their usual 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 system which Michel prefers.
PSG possible starting lineup:
Safonov, Mendes, Beraldo, Skriniar, Hakimi, Ruiz, Neves, Lee, Barcola, Asensio, Dembele
Girona possible starting lineup:
Gazzaniga, Gutierrez, Blind, Lopez, Frances, Martin, Solis Romero, Danjuma, Tsygankov, Gil, Ruiz
