The Brazilian calendar is unforgiving. From a Copa Libertadores quarter-final leg straight into a relegation scrap, this is a tough time for Fluminense. However, they’ll recognise that this is their opportunity to return to winning ways in the league.

Certain players may be physically or mentally tired, and Menezes may well have to rotate once more, but there’s enough quality within that squad to keep them up and get a result against the league’s whipping boys.

So, who is going to get that all important goal to get Fluminense over the line? There are very few players stepping up in the goal department, but someone who has impressed is 18-year-old Kaua Elias.

The young forward has begun his senior career in extremely difficult circumstances but he’s more often than not relished the challenge. With six goals to his name since coming into the first team, Menezes has trusted his 18-year-old to lead the line.

Key goals against Bahia, São Paulo, Cuiaba and Bragantino has kept Fluminense in with a chance of staying up. Goals may have dried up of late for the youngster, but he comes up against the worst defence in the league.

Elias will lead the line in Menezes’ preferred 4-5-1 formation, and it’s likely the chances will fall his way at some point during the match. He’s a menace with his movement, and knows how to time his runs into the box.

Capable with the ball at his feet with snap decisions, as well as confident in the air, Elias can once again bail his team out.
