Zhuoxuan Bai only played in two grass tournaments last season and it was the first year she had even played one match on the surface. Bai has been a pro since 2019, but she didn’t play one event on grass until entering the Ilkey event leading up to Wimbledon. 

Bai was bounced in her first match on grass and then reeled off four straight wins at Wimbledon before being ousted in the final 32. That is not a bad run for someone who had no idea what to expect playing on a tough surface when you don’t take time to learn the nuances.

I will show Bai some respect for a few reasons, the first being that run at Wimbledon and the second being that Kudermetova stunk up the court this clay season. 

Kudermetova may be ranked 34th on the WTA Tour, but if a 7 – 13 record keeps you in the top 40, what good is the ranking system? I don’t put too much stock in rankings because otherwise a 93rd-ranked Bai should be getting smoked today, right? 

I don’t see it that way even though neither woman has had positive results lately to keep a positive mindset. Bai is 1 – 6 in her last 7 matches on clay, so her confidence can’t be full of positivity,

Kudermetova ended the clay swing 1 – 5 and didn’t do much to impress anyone either so I see this is as much more even than the line setters are leading us to believe.

Bai can take a set from Kudermetova, and if Veronika is the favorite she will go on to win this match in three sets. There is a +165 offer from Pinnacle on the Over 2.5 Sets prop, and I suggest you bet on that!

ZHUOXUAN BAI RECENT FORM

Bai was thrilled to see the clay swing of the tour end having lost six of her last seven matches on the dirt entering the grass season. 

The Chinese native was 4 – 2 in her first attempt at playing on grass last year, and she carries a 7 – 15 record for the 2024 season.

VERONIKA KUDERMETOVA FORM

Kudermetova tanked the clay swing losing five of her last six matches, and despite that she has kept her 34th ranking on tour. 

Veronika has only won 7 of her 20 matches in 2024, and an early exit from Nottingham might see that number fall closer to 40th in the world.
