Yulia Putintseva and Linda Noskova are set up for a clash in Section 4 of the Main Draw at the US Open as the first round of the last Major Tournament of 2024 kicks off this week.

The Kazakhstan native enters the last Major of the campaign as a slight favorite over Noskova with a line of -125 to advance to the second round. Linda Noskova spent last week in Mexico and all she did was take down the Monterrey title without dropping a set.

EJ Garr’s Yulia Putintseva vs Linda Noskova prediction features odds at +152 so check out his tip below.

Yulia Putintseva vs Linda Noskova Prediction: A Lengthy First-Round Battle in NY

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds: +152
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds updated at 7:00 am UK Time on August 27, 2024.

Yulia Putintseva ran off 8 straight wins on the grass including a run to the Birmingham title. Yulia’s run at Wimbledon may have ended early but the Kazakh mustered up a big win over Iga Swiatek in London.

Putintseva is headed to Cincinnati after the grass swing and once again she picked up a monster win over Coco Gauff. Beating the World’s #1 and #2 in back-to-back events is no easy task but staying at that level has been the issue for Putintseva.

The 32nd-ranked player on the WTA Tour carries the 30-seed at the US Open and Putintseva will be listed as the favorite despite facing someone ranked 7 spots ahead of her as is Noskova (25).

So the question becomes which Putintseva will show up here in New York this week? I am also concerned about the knee injury that left Putintseva out of the Olympics and Toronto but 11 days off will give her time to heal and prepare for the last Major of 2024.

Linda Noskova went to Paris for the Olympics but that dream ended after the opening loss and then the loss in Cincinnati against Lulu Sun could have dashed her confidence. Noskova got to exact some revenge on Sun in the title game at Monterrey where she picked up another top-10 win over Emma Navarro along the way.

I have this match going the distance and the Over 2.5 Sets prop is listed at a lovely +152 so let’s take advantage of it!

YULIA PUTINTSEVA RECENT FORM

Putintseva enters the last Major of 2024 with mixed emotions. Wins over Swiatek, Gauff, and Navarro in the last few weeks should be building blocks but then she seems to hit a wall. The loss to Badosa and Cincy came right after taking out Coco and I get that Paula is climbing back to her old form but losing to the Spaniard in straight sets was a bad result.

Putintseva is 16 – 10 on hardcourts this campaign and for the first time since 2019, the Kazakh will have a winning record on all three surfaces. Barring a meltdown to finish 2024, Yulia will finish the season with a winning record for the 6th straight campaign.

LINDA NOSKOVA RECENT FORM

Noskova was down and out after losses in Paris and Cincy but she didn’t show it all on her way to the Monterrey title last week. With only two days off that could factor into today’s first-round match but I don’t see that affecting 19 year old legs.

Youth comes in handy when going from event to event and Noskova has the confidence of taking the Monterrey title and entering the Major in New York.

Linda is 19 – 7 on hardcourts this season and as it stands she will not have a losing record on any surface in 2024.

PUTINTSEVA VS NOSKOVA H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Putintseva and Noskova have yet to face each other on any surface marking the first meeting between them today in New York.
