Yulia Putintseva vs Jelena Ostapenko Prediction, Picks, Odds, H2H, Stats - 7/8/24

After a massive upset over Iga Swiatek on Saturday, Yulia Putintsseva will take on Jelena Ostapenko in the fourth round at Wimbledon on Monday in London.
The Kazakhstan native’s confidence is at an all-time high, as Putintseva is 8 – 0 on the grass in 2024 with her eyes on a Major title win at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Jelena Ostapenko arrives at this fourth-round clash as the favorite with odds at -135 to advance to the quarterfinals but EJ Garr’s Yulia Putintseva vs Jelena Ostapenko prediction features +115 odds on a potential upset!

I have mentioned it before so I will start with how confidence is a massive advantage. Yulia Putintseva was a +750 underdog against Iga Swiatek given no chance to beat the World #1 in the third round, right?
Yulia’s confidence is through the roof right now, and here she is again listed as an underdog against Ostapenko in the fourth round. I find it hysterical that we are getting +115 on the Kazakhstani native to earn yet another win to boost her record to 9 – 0 on grass this season.
Putintseva didn’t just beat Swiatek, she kicked her right out of the tournament in emphatic fashion, and her box was going bonkers! Did you see her camp losing their minds on the telecast of the match?
I don’t think that Yulia sees the win over Iga as the final call to end the perfect run on grass this year. I certainly don’t think that Ostapenko is going to be the one to end the run for Putintseva, and the fact that she is the underdog is outrageous.
Ostapenko’s game isn’t where it was when she took the Linz title, and if you review all of her opponents since that run to the Linz title I am not impressed. Find me a significant win for Jelena over the last 4 months because you can’t!
Ostapenko being favored in this match makes zero sense, so jump on the underdog and splash the pot with the Putintseva Moneyline at +115.
YULIA PUTINTSEVA RECENT FORM
How is 8 – 0 on grass this year? I think that about covers the recent form question, and the win over Iga last Saturday was a clinic for the Kazakhstan native as a massive underdog.
Putintseva was 5 – 0 in Birmingham en route to the first tile on grass in her career and has 3 wins at Wimbledon which could boost her ranking from 35th in the world with another win on Monday.
JELENA OSTAPENKO RECENT FORM
Ostapenko is 4 – 2 on the grass in 2024, and after failing to defend her title in Birmingham, Katie Boulter smashed the Latvian native out of Eastbourne.
Jelena was 8 – 2 on the grass last season, and that followed up 8 – 3 and 8 – 2 records in 2023 and 2022.
Ostapenko’s two wins at Wimbledon have been against opponents ranked 136th (Tomljanovic) and 130th (Snigur) in the world.
PUTINTSEVA VS OSTAPENKO HTH – STAT OF THE MATCH
Putintseva and Ostapenko have met four times on the WTA Tour, and they have each won twice.
The first time they met was in Beijing in 2016, and Putintseva earned a 3-set win.
In 2017 at the Australian Open, Ostapenko took down Putintseva in straight sets, and they met again in Cincinnati in 2019.
Putintseva again needed 3 sets to advance past Ostapenko, and their most recent meeting happening in 2021. Ostapenko beat Putintseva to tie the series at 2 – 2 with a 3-set win at Indian Wells.
