Varvara Gracheva will have her newly adopted home crowd in support as she takes on Bernarda Pera in the second round of the French Open.

Nearly a year ago, the Russian-born 23-year-old became a citizen of France, and most of us know the story as to why she ultimately went through the process. Regardless, Gracheva got handed a tough main-draw opponent in the first round named Maria Sakkari.

You know, the Greek as the 6-seed in France who found a way to flop again? Yeah, her!

While we can call it a Greecian flop, let’s give credit to Gracheva who lost the first set at 6 – 2 needing to mount a comeback as a big underdog. I believe I saw +450 on the Gracheva Moneyline against Sakkari, and here she is again as the dog in section 7.

Pera has a record of 91 – 49 on clay since turning pro in 2012, and she is one win away from clinching a third straight season with double-digit wins on the dirt.
