I’ve been a proponent for quite some time that a Frances Tiafoe in form would be one of the best things for the sport or tennis.
There are only a few that can hit the shots he does, get around the court the way he can and that have the charisma that he possesses.
We may be seeing the American rounding into form just in time for his home slam. He had a nice week at his hometown event in Washington and his first match here was incredibly impressive. He likes quicker conditions and though he can really serve and hit well, he isn’t often looked to by many casual fans as someone who can hold his own in those power exchanges.
Lehecka, on the other hand, has only played a few matches since injuring himself in Madrid. Thanks to one of those wins coming in the last round against Daniil Medvedev, he’s being afforded a lot of respect in the betting markets. That’s fine by me. I think he’s a little more volatile and though he may be able to serve and hit his way to a close match, I much prefer the player rounding into form the last few weeks and who is still one of the stronger quick court players on tour. Our Tiafoe vs Lehecka prediction is for Tiafoe to win.

Frances Tiafoe Recent Form
Tiafoe’s impressive form can actually be traced back to the grass season, where he impressed at the All England Club. After a slide down the rankings and a poor 2024 season, he managed his way through a tricky opening round, dominated Borna Coric in the second round and was on the verge of a massive upset against the eventual champion in Carlos Alcaraz before losing in a deciding fifth set.
He had a tough time in Atlanta, and again Montreal, but his Washington run saw him reach the semifinals playing some strong, smart tennis and he dominated the in-form Lorenzo Musetti to reach this point.
If he can put enough serves back in play in this match, he certainly has a chance to find some break chances against the sometimes erratic Lehecka.
I make him closer to 1.62 or 1.67 than the 1.80 on offer, so I’m happy to back him in this position on home soil as a player that can feed off energy in the crowd (though I’d caution against using this as a foundational part of your handicap).
Jiri Lehecka Recent Form
I’ll keep this one short and sweet. Lehecka has played two matches in just over three months. He’s won them both, upsetting Medvedev, but also looking fairly rusty against Mariano Navone (a clay court specialist who has done absolutely nothing on hard courts at this level).
That’s the extent of the recent play we have from him. Now, style wise, he does have some firepower, though controlling it can be an issue for him. With the quicker surface, he may be able to avoid longer points and keep things close, but he should be a much more definitive underdog.
Frances Tiafoe vs Jiri Lehecka H2H – Stat of the Match
Tiafoe has the win in the lone matchup these two have played. He won by a three game margin in straight sets in the slight altitude of Stuttgart during the 2023 grass season.
