Sofia Kenin and Maya Joint will contest a quarterfinal affair at Hobart International on Wednesday in Australia and the American is the favorite to advance to the semis.

Kenin has played two 3-set matches in Australia’s first two rounds of this WTA250 event, and the American is listed at -150 against Joint.

Joint has looked comfortable to open the 2025 campaign with two straight-set wins to open the event and the Australian native will be highly motivated to reach a semifinal at home.

EJ Garr’s prediction for Sofia Kenin vs Maya Joint features odds at +135 which you can find below.

Sofia Kenin vs Maya Joint WTA Hobart International Prediction: We’re Going The Distance

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds:  +135
  • Bookmaker: BetMGM
  • Stakes: 5/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on January 8, 2024. Odds may now differ.

It’s time to kick off the 2025 WTA campaign for me and what better way to do it than with a call for a match to go the distance?

As you probably know I made a living making these bets last season and I get to take advantage of it again right out of the gate.

I will put this out there, but not for the reasons you might think. Sofia Kenin reminds me of John Isner! It’s not because of the big serve that makes me think that way; it is simply because Sofia is holding her serves and can’t break glass with a hammer!

Breaking Lulu Sun a few times in the opening round was easy and Anna Blinkova’s serve was all over the place against Kenin. With 9 aces, Blinkova produced 4 double faults while being broken 5 times. Blinkova’s second serve was the real disaster that eventually led to the loss with only 35% of second-serve points won.

Maya Joint has been solid thus far with two easy wins this week at Hobart. Joint has been listed at -105 to get past Danilovic and Linette and the 118th-ranked Aussie native has looked impressive to start the 2025 campaign.

I have plenty of faith in Joint to get past Kenin, but Sonya won’t just lay down and play dead. I expect this to be a match that needs three sets to decide the victor, and with odds at the Over 2.5 Sets prop, it makes the grade!

SOFIA KENIN RECENT FORM

Sofia Kenin went 1 – 1 in Auckland to start the 2025 campaign and is 2 – 0 this week at Hobart.

Kenin has played three sets in three of the first four matches of the season and we’re about to see another one today.

Kenin is ranked 81st on the WTA tour and produced a 16 – 26 record in 2024.

MAYA JOINT RECENT FORM

Maya Joint is 3 – 1 in 2025 after a 1 – 1 record at Brisbane and two wins this week at the Hobart International.

Joint produced a 62 – 28 record in 2024 and the 18-year-old Aussie native hopes to build on that in 2025.
