Swiss native Jenny Duerst will play on familiar grounds when she takes on Silvia Ambrosio in the first round at beautiful Bellinzona.

Secondly, we have a tennis tournament to discuss, and we can assume that Jenny Duerst feels okay after exiting her last event with an injury. Duerst was fresh off a title run at the WTA15 ITF Aliminos 3 event going into her last match in Greece on April 3, but the Swiss native left the tournament after dropping the first set against 647th-ranked Angelina Wirges. 

Assuming Duerst is feeling healthy enough to be back in the game, I will take the Swiss native on her home soil to pick up an opening-round win against Ambrosio. As I said, the lines are just popping up at BetMGM here in New York, and I see -125 odds toward an Ambrosio victory.

I don’t even have totals or handicap options for this event yet, and I wish I could cover the Billie Jean King event, but finding those lines is impossible.

Duerst has been building her career to the point where she can be taken seriously at this level, and now ranked 352nd on the WTA Tour, the 26-year-old Swiss native has the potential to slide up to bigger events if she keeps this pace up. A 17 – 4 start to the year says all you need to know, and she’s been successful on two surfaces!

Give me the Swiss native at home with a mere -105 on the slight underdog to win.

Silvia Ambrosio is ranked 415th on the WTA Tour and has a 12 – 6 record to begin the 2025 season. Ambrosio claimed the WTA15 Monastir 8 trophy in Tunisia on March 2, but is 2 – 2 in the last four outings. But the German native, who plays under the Italian flag, was just bounced from doubles yesterday to begin the week.

That might help Ambrosio focus on a run to a singles title in Switzerland, but landing Jenny Duerst on her home soil to open the event might not work out.

Jenny Duerst has opened the season with a 9 – 2 record on hard courts and is 8 – 2 on clay in 2025.

Duerst has won two career titles, and they have both come this season on two different surfaces.
