Serbian star ready to shine in Novak Djokovic's absence
Serbia are facing Denmark this weekend in Davis Cup, but the biggest star is missing, which will give the chance to one of the country´s up and coming stars, Hamad Medjedovic.
Hamad Medjedovic won the next gen finals in 2023 and is seen as a huge talent in a very proud tennis country, but he has been living in the shadow of Novak Djokovic until now.
Djokovic suffered from a hamstring injury, which forced him to retire from the Australian open and withdraw from Davis Cup, which has given the chance to Hamad Medjedovic, and the rising star is ready to take advantage of this opportunity.
I can’t wait to get out there
Despite being sad and disappointed that Novak Djokovic won´t play in Copenhagen, Medjedovic knows that he needs to go out and prove himself, and not least get a good result for Serbia.
“Of course, we are sad Novak is not here. We wished that he would be here to play, but now I got the chance to play, and I think I am ready for the match”, Medjedovic stated at the press conference ahead of the match, which bettingexpert was attending.
“I am really excited for it, and I can´t wait to get out there. I am happy I got the chance, and now I just have to do my best to win and get the points for my team.”
“I know Holger Rune and Elmer Møller very well from our junior days, and we are very good friends. It will be some very fun matches, but at the end of the day, everything is about winning our matches.”
Last but not least, Serbian captain Viktor Troicki was in a good mood, joking when he was asked what he expected from the crowd in Copenhagen, where more than 10,000 tickets has been sold.
“There are a lot of Serbs here in Denmark. I believe we will have a lot of Serbians here cheering for us, however I am sure there will be more people supporting Denmark.”
