The clay portion of the 2024 tennis campaign resumes this week in Rome, and today we’ll be discussing the match between Arantxa Rus and Camila Osorio. Our Rus vs Osorio prediction is below!

Osorio has already claimed a title on clay this campaign, as she hoisted the trophy in Bogota, Columbia on April 7. Camila has an 8 – 2 record on clay this season, and since 2019 she has been stellar on this surface.

Arantxa Rus also considers herself a better player on clay, although she has only managed a 5 – 5 record on clay in 2024. Rus belted out 43 wins from 51 matches a season ago on clay, and Ej Garr expects this to be a lengthy match that goes the distance!

Both of these ladies excel on clay, and Rus has earned 11 of her 12 titles on this surface dating back to the 2012 campaign. Rus won five titles alone in 2023, although none were high-profile events. The trophy she earned in Hamburg last season was the only notable win of the five, and this is no ITF event in Rome.

This is a WTA-1000 event, and Rus better be at her best on Tuesday afternoon in Rome if she wants to get past Osorio and advance in Rome.

Osorio has two clay titles to her credit, both of which came in Bogota in 2021 and 2024, and she has looked comfortable on this surface in 2024. Let’s face reality when it comes to the opponents that Osorio has faced on clay this season. 

Magda Frech is the highest-ranked player that Osorio has had to face on clay this season. Frech is barely ranked inside the top 60 on the WTA tour, and Rus is now ranked 49th coming into this event in Rome.

I think these two will break the hell out of each other, so if you find the prop bet for service breaks, hit it and hit it hard! That used to be one of my favorite prop bets to make on the WTA tour because the women make holding serve look so much more difficult than it should be.

This match will be full of breaks, and the games will add up along with it. This match total is listed at 21 games, but the juice on that is not my cup of tea. I see all of the value in this match to go 3 sets, so splash the Over 2.5 at +135 and get yourself paid when Rus and Osorio go the distance. Rus is only 5 – 5 on clay this season after tearing up this surface in 2023. 

Since 2021, Rus has accumulated a 110 – 41 record on clay and has seven titles on this surface over that span.

CAMILA OSORIO RECENT FORM

Osorio is 8 – 2 on clay this season and since the 2021 campaign, she has a 44 – 15 record on this surface. 

From January 7 to March 18, Osorio struggled to win back-to-back matches, and she held a 4 – 6 record this season before the win in Bogota.
