Rebecca Sramkova vs Eva Lys Prediction, Picks, Odds, H2H, Stats - 7/19/24
Rebecca Sramkova and Eva Lys arrive at the Budapest Grand Prix quarters on Thursday, and the German native will play the role of the favorite to land in the semis of the WTA250 event in the Hungarian Capital.
Our resident WTA expert EJ Garr covered Rebecca Sramkova and Eva Lys in the second round, and his prediction for this match features odds at +145 which can be found below.
Eva Lys benefitted from the early exit of Bernarda Pera in the second round to advance to the quarters. The German was only two games away from earning the upset win over the favored American, and now the line setters have Eva Lys featured at -145 to smooth her way into the semifinal.
Despite Sramkova’s ranking at 129th in the world, she was the favorite against the 3-seed of the event yesterday, and she took out Xiyu Wang in straight sets to earn her spot in the quarters.

Rebecca Sramkova vs Eva Lys Prediction: We’re Going The Distance!
- Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
- Best Odds: -+145
- Bookmaker: Pinnacle
- Stakes: 3/10
Odds updated at 7:00 am UK Time July 19, 2024.
We were two games from a perfect 2 – 0 on Thursday had it not been for Bernarda Pera calling it quits against Eva Lys. The +3 handicap on Lys was about to become a cashed ticket at 4 – 1 in the second set with Lys up a set, but Pera couldn’t finish the match leaving us with a voided ticket.
Sramkova and Wang went the distance in the first set on Thursday, and you enjoyed that +110 offer on the Over 9.5 games as I told you it would go to a tie-break.
I knew I would be covering this match today, and you know that -145 odds on the Lys Moneyline isn’t my style. I am happy to see Pinnacle posting a -108 on the -1.5 games handicap on the German to cover the spread though, which I thought would be closer to -125.
Lys has played solid tennis since arriving in Budapest, easily outdueling Nadia Podoroska before having Bernarda Pera on the ropes yesterday. I mentioned that it would be the hottest day of the week in Budapest on Thursday, and after Pera needed a break from the heat in her first match, it was too much for the American to handle and she walked off the court.
Sramkova’s match with Xiyu Wang went exactly as I thought it would go after the Slovak’s wild first-round affair against Miriam Bulgaru. There were 13 breaks of serve in Sramkova’s first-round match, and Rebecca didn’t get broken at all in the second set clincher to send her to the semis against Wang.
I’ll take Lys to cover the -1.5 handicap but the Over 2.5 Sets prop is my main call for this quarterfinal battle in Budapest at +145!
REBECCA SRAMKOVA RECENT FORM
Rebecca is now 14 – 7 on clay this season after two wins in Hungary have her playing for a spot in the semifinals in Budapest.
Sramkova did face a potential 12 break points saving 10 of them against Wang, but she did bring her first-serve percentage up to 66% from 54% in her opening match of the event.
EVA LYS RECENT FORM
Eva Lys has looked motivated in Hungary as she would most likely have two straight-set wins had it not been for Pera retiring at 4 – 1 in the second set of yesterday’s second-round affair.
Gaining confidence, Lys is 32 – 28 in her career on clay with a 9 – 5 record this season on the dirt and she has eight wins over opponents ranked inside the top 100 this season.
SRAMKOVA VS LYS HTH – STAT OF THE MATCH
On any surface, this will be the first meeting between Rebecca Sramkova and Eva Lys.
The winner of this quarterfinal affair at the Budapest Grand Prix will face the victor of the match between top-seeded Diana Shnaider and Ella Deidel in the semis.
