Well, these two got me yesterday, and now I have to recover from the two losses and discuss Ons Jabeur and Jelena Ostapenko again, HA! Sofia Kenin had no answer for Ons Jabeur and couldn’t force a third set while Ostapenko manhandled Jasmine Paolini, so here we are!

With the need to rebound today, I am turning to my favorite prop bet because my gut tells me this will be a three-set affair in Doha.

The line setters have Jabeur listed at -175 to win this match, and I am not convinced it will be easy for the Tunisian native to reach the semis.

Ostapenko came through for us with the second-round win over Samsonova, and we have mentioned Jelena’s success in Doha. The Latvian native is one step away from a third semifinal appearance in this WTA1000 event, and the win over 4th-ranked Paolini is a huge confident-building victory.

Ons Jabeur has a win against a top-10-ranked opponent after expunging Qinwen Zheng from Doha in the second round. The Tunisian native hasn’t dropped a set in three wins this week and is making her third showing in the quarterfinals at Doha from eight appearances at the Qatar Open.

Ostapenko improved to 15 – 5 at the Qatar Open after the victory against Paolini in the third round. This is her sixth appearance in Doha, including a run to the final in 2016.

Ostapenko is ranked 37th on the WTA Tour, just two spots behind Jabeur. The Latvian native is 4 – 4 in 2025 and claimed two titles in 2024.

Jabeur and Ostapenko have played six times dating back to the 2015 campaign.

Their first meeting was a clash at an ITF event in Poland, and Ostapenko won the quarterfinal in straight sets.

The winner of this match will face Elena Rybakina or Iga Swiatek in the semifinals of the Qatar Open.
