Nina Stojanovic did an amazing job lifting the Colina Challenger trophy on Sunday. After the comeback win the Serbian enters Argentina as a -200 favourite with more expectations on her shoulders.

Stojanovic hadn’t dropped a set in the Colina Challenger en route to the finals but Maria Carle jumped on the Serbian out of the gate and took the opening frame, 6 – 3. Carle broke Stojanvic three straight times to start the match and it was 5 – 1 in the blink of an eye.

Amazingly, the third set was almost clean until the final game when Stojanvic broke Carle to claim the title, 3 – 6, 6 – 4, 6 – 4.

After a stellar 2023 campaign, the 22-year-old Argentine hasn’t won more than three games in any tournament since early May. Riera needs a big run in this event and I think catching Stojanvic after a tourney win might work out well.

There is a hangover effect from winning a title and the short flight from Chile to Buenos Aires on Monday should provide Riera a chance to come out strong early and grab a set in this match.
