Emma Navarro and Fiona Ferro square off in the Paris Challenger quarterfinals on Friday, and the American is enjoying her time in Paris. Navarro finds herself as the favorite to get past Ferro, a native of France who hasn’t exactly excelled on clay in her career. Ej’s Navarro vs Ferro prediction with odds at +132 can be found below.

Emma Navarro has dismissed two fellow Americans in the Paris Challenger Draw at the Trophée Clarins, and now she attempts to reach the semifinals of the W-125 event.

Fiona Ferro has two official wins in Paris, but her first opponent Lois Boisson had to leave their opening-round clash with a lead in the third set.

All the hype this week in Paris was regarding the return of Simona Halep, as she participated in only her second event in 2024. That hype was shut down in her opening match after retiring against McCartney Kessler, so we will see if the former World’s #1’s status for the French Open is in question.

NAVARRO VS FERRO PREDICTION: AN AMERICAN IN PARIS

  • Prediction: Match Total Under 18 Games
  • Best Odds: +132
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time May 17, 2024. Odds may now differ.

After being bounced in the first round of her last two clay tournaments, Emma Navarro has made a nice run to the quarterfinals in Paris. The 22-year-old American is enjoying her stay in Paris, as she has only lost 3 games from two dominant wins.

Emma has had to uncomfortably dismantle her fellow Americans to pick up her two wins in Paris, Lauren Davis and McCartney Kessler. Kessler only got past Simona Halep because the former World’s #1 couldn’t finish the match, and then she ran into Navarro which didn’t work out well.

Navarro pulled the clean sheet against Lauren Davis in her first match in Paris, 12 games to Love, and she felt no qualms about it even if an American Patriot was across the court. All Emma could do was smile, shake Lauren’s hand, and feel no guilt about the thumping because there was no need to apologize.

She broke Davis all 6 times she had the chance, and she broke Kessler 5 times in her last match to arrive at the quarterfinals of the Trophée Clarins.

While a pair of wins over Davis and Kessler might not seem that overwhelming, Ferro being in her home country doesn’t make her a better tennis player. Ferro has four titles on this surface, her last win being at a WTA-60 event in Tunisia last year.

Ferro’s record on clay has brought mixed results, and her overall record each season has only produced five winning records since 2013. Fiona is 5 – 6 this season on clay, and she hasn’t won three straight games over her last 13 tournament appearances on the dirt dating back to last season.

I don’t see Navarro struggling with Ferro today, and I think back to the Mademoiselle’s performance in Rome. Navarro wins in straight sets and eases into the semifinals in Paris, 6 – 2, 6 – 3.

EMMA NAVARRO RECENT FORM

Navarro is only 22 years old and is one of a handful of American players who can produce wins on clay. Her return of serve in the first two rounds of the Paris Challenger has already caused 11 breaks, and she has only played 27 games in two matches in the WTA-125 event.

FIONA FERRO RECENT FORM

Ferro holds a 5 – 6 record on clay this season, and she is only 13 – 11 in the 2024 campaign on the WTA Tour.

She claimed the Biarritz Event in France last season, although two of her four clay titles have come in ITF lower-level events. She has also made title runs in Palermo and Lausanne on clay, but her confidence doesn’t seem where it should be at this point in her career.

NAVARRO VS FERRO H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Navarro and Ferro have yet to compete against each other on tour, so this will mark their first encounter in Paris.

The winner of this affair will face either Gabriella Ruse or Alize Cornet in the semifinals.
