Moyuka Uchijima and Kamilla Rakhimova are finally getting their first round match in at Le Open de Rouen on Wednesday, and the Japanese native arrives favored to advance in the bottom bracket.

Uchijima carries the 5-seed in this WTA250 event from France, and with odds of -135, the expectation is for a second-round battle with wildcard Lois Boisson for the 5-time title holder on clay.

EJ Garr’s prediction for Moyuka Uchijima vs. Kamilla Rakhimova features odds of -111, which can be found below.

Moyuka Uchijima vs Kamilla Rakhimova WTA Open de Rouen Prediction: Japanese Native Favored To Advance

  • Prediction: Moyuka Uchijima -1.5 Games
  • Best Odds: -111
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on April 16, 2025. Odds may now differ.

Moyuka Uchijima blasted her way to five titles last season, three of which were earned on clay. Uchijima is barely favored against Kamilla Rakhimova, and we are about to take advantage of the line setters.

The -135 odds on the outright win don’t do anything for us, but the -1.5 game spread features odds of -111, which is nothing to ask for the win and cover of the handicap for the Japanese native.

Rakhimova has lost five of her last six outings and went 1 – 1 in her first clay event last month at Antalya 2 ITF. I can’t explain why the line setters have Rakhimova at +110, because I simply do not see a win coming for the 23-year-old who has three total wins this year.

With Rakhimova’s form being this bad to start the 2025 campaign, there is no way we can put our hard-earned money on a potential upset. Rakhimova is headed toward 100th in the WTA rankings, and a loss today will surely bring that 83 number closer to the century mark.

Uchijima is playing with a semblance of confidence after the pair of wins last week at the Billie Jean King Cup. Victories against Anca Todoni and Marina Stakusic were nice efforts representing her country, and at least the Japanese native has some quality wins in 2025.

Emma Raducanu and Jelena Ostapenko will tell you that Uchijima is tougher than she looks, and wins like that give me the confidence to depend on Uchijima to come away with the win and cover of the marginal -1.5 games.

MOYUKA UCHIJIMA RECENT FORM

Moyuka Uchijima started the week ranked 60th on the WTA Tour, and the Japanese native is headed for her first top-50 appearance. With a good showing this week, Uchijima can get there and will likely be favored through the semifinals in the bottom bracket.

Uchijima went 22 – 5 on clay last season, earning three of her five titles on the WTA Tour on the dirt.

With a 51 – 26 record in 2024, Uchijima finished a second campaign with 50+ wins (2022).

KAMILLA RAKHIMOVA RECENT FORM

Kamilla Rakhimova has two wins over the last 11 outings, and has only three wins from 13 outings in 2025.

Rakhimova hasn’t produced a winning record on clay since going 10 – 7 in 2022, and is 27 – 31 on clay over the last three years.

UCHIJIMA VS RAKHIMOVA HTH –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Kamilla Rakhimova is 2 – 1 from three meetings against Moyuka Uchijima.

In 2022, Rakhimova won their first meeting in the Bronx, NY, and Uchijima responded two months later with a win at Monistir to level the series.

Last season, Rakhimova defeated Uchijima in straight sets in Wuhan.

The winner of this match will face Lois Biosson in the second round of Le Open de Rouen.
