A semifinal appearance at the China Open is on the line for Mirra Andreeva and Qinwen Zheng and the home crowd will be supporting the Chinese native in Beijing on Friday.

Zheng is the favorite to reach the semifinal as the 5 and 17-seeded players square off in the quarterfinals of this WTA1000 event as part of the Asian swing.

At -150, the Olympic Gold Medallist will hope to see Diamond Court full of fans in support of a potential title run but Andreeva knows what’s at stake!

EJ Garr’s Mirra Andreeva vs Qinwen Zheng prediction calls for an epic quarterfinal match that goes the distance so catch his +140 offer below.

Mirra Andreeva vs Qinwen Zheng Prediction: A Diamond Court Showdown

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds: +140
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds updated at 7:00 am UK Time on October 3, 2024.

Mirra Andreeva wiped out Magda Linette with ease yesterday and that strong effort cost me a bet on the Over 2.5 Sets. I am returning to the action on that prop because Andreeva and Zheng are taking a set from each other in this high-profile affair.

A semifinal appearance at a WTA1000 event comes with a decent paycheck and the potential to play for a title in Beijing, and Zheng would love nothing more than to back up that Olympic Gold Medal with a win in China.

The 7th-ranked Shiyan only played in two events during the North American swing with a quarterfinal showing at the US Open to show for the trip. Ironically, Aryna Sabalenka would be next for Zheng if they both advance to the semifinal and that’s who took her out of the last Major in New York. (By the way, look for my preview for the Sabalenka vs Muchova QF match)

After going 11 – 0 on clay before the North American swing, Zheng has won 19 of her last 21 outings and her confidence rises with each win. Having the home crowd will be helpful and I am offering a bonus bet on the Zheng -1.5 game handicap because she will be advancing to the semifinal in Beijing.

Andreeva will put up a fight but don’t miss out on the Zheng 2 – 1 Correct Sets prop at +333 and hit the +140 Over 2.5 Sets action!

MIRRA ANDREEVA RECENT FORM

Mirra Andreeva has been pushed to three sets in two of the three wins in Beijing but the straight-sets win over Magda Linette in the fourth round was a quality effort to build confidence as an underdog in China against Zheng.

Andreeva isn’t scared of the underdog role but she’s been a significant favorite in all three matches in Beijing including the Donna Vekic outing.

Andreeva calls Cannes, France home now but we all know what supported that decision. The 17-year-old has been solid on clay and hard courts this year with a combined 29 – 11 record on the two surfaces in 2024.

QINWEN ZHENG RECENT FORM

Zheng is 7 – 1 over the last 8 outings with the loss to Sabalenka at the US Open as the only stumble. Qinwen has won 20 of her 28 hardcourt contests this season and is four wins away from matching her season-high 44 wins from 2022.

Zheng has won no less than 2 titles over the last 4 four campaigns and the 21-year-old Chinese native is just starting her career.

At 40 – 14, Zheng has produced 6 straight winning seasons combined with ITF/Challenger/WTA events.

ANDREEVA VS ZHENG H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

This quarterfinal match between Andreeva and Zheng will mark the first time the two have met on the WTA tour.

As stated, the winner of this match will face either Aryna Sabalenka or Karolina Muchova in the semifinal so be sure to find my preview for that affair!
