We have arrived at the semifinal stage of the PNB Paribas Open, and Mirra Andreeva will put her 10-game win streak on the line against Iga Swiatek with a spot in the finals at stake.
Our WTA expert almost called the exact score of the Andreeva match with Svitolina, as she swept the Ukrainian out of this WTA1000 event at Indian Wells on Thursday.
Iga Swiatek exacted revenge against Qinwen Zheng for the loss at last year’s Olympic Games with a straight sets win over the Chinese native to advance.

If you follow the WTA Tour, you might have seen the post-match comments from Swiatek after defeating Qinwen Zheng in the quarterfinals. I can quote her, but she essentially said we (her coaches) looked over the loss in Paris against Zheng, but I know what I did wrong there.
Swiatek’s success at Indian Wells is well-documented, and she became the first player in history to play in four consecutive semifinals at the BNP Paribas Open. With a 22 – 3 record in 25 games matches at this WTA1000 event in California, Swiatek has visions of lifting the third trophy in four years here, but there is one little 17-year-old standing in her way.
Iga already knows how difficult it can be to face Andreeva, as the last 10 opponents who have tried to eliminate her have found out. The Polska native was victim #4 during Mirra’s current 10-game win streak, and that led to a tournament win in Dubai that included a semifinal win over Elena Rybakina.
When Monday arrives, expect Andreeva to crack the top-10 WTA Rankings. That will put Emma Navarro and Qinwen Zheng’s positions in jeopardy as well. Paula Badosa is already passed, and we could see Andreeva in the top-8 soon enough.
At this pace, we might see a 17-year-old WTA Champion, but let’s not jump to November quite yet. You have to admit, what Mirra is doing right now is outstanding to watch, and her game is about as in form as it gets.
I said I do not like to fade Iga, but I am not fading Andreeva with odds at +130 to beat Swiatek again! They will go the distance, so take advantage of the Over 2.5 sets prop! The +375 on Andreeva to win in three sets gave me the chills, so I am placing a 1U action bet on it!
MIRRA ANDREEVA RECENT FORM
The match with Svitolina went exactly as I predicted, although how they got to 7 – 5 in the opening set was insane. There were no breaks of serve until 5 – 5, and Andreeva snapped the streak to the next two games and the opening frame. The pivotal point of that match was at 3 – 2 with Andreeva serving in the second set..
Svitolina broke Andreeva to level the second set at 3 – 3, and Andreeva dismantled the Ukrainian to win the next and last three games en route to the victory.
Andreeva has a 10-game win streak, and knows she can not only compete with, but defeat the World’s #2 today.
IGA SWIATEK RECENT FORM
Iga Swiatek cost me a play yesterday by a half-game when she covered the -5.5 vs. Zheng. I had the +5.5, so I’ll take that on the chin.
Fading Iga Swiatek can be a tall order, considering she is one of the top-3 women’s players walking on planet Earth, no matter her ranking.
Andreeva is challenging Swiatek to be a better player because of that win in Dubai, and if you don’t think that everyone wants to take out Andreeva, for whatever reasons they may have personal or not, she doesn’t care!
This match will be an epic three-set finish with emotions flying all over the court!
ANDREEVA VS SWIATEK HTH – STAT OF THE MATCH
Iga Swiatek defeated Mirra Andreeva in Cincinnati last season to win their first match on the WTA Tour.
Andreeva leveled the score with a win in Dubai less than a month ago, and went on to win her first WTA1000 event. Also becoming the youngest to do so.
