Rebecca Marino puts her Canuckistan pride on the line taking on Argentinian Martina Capurro Taborda in a qualifying match at the French Open. At 11:30 in the morning in Paris, brunch will consist of champagne and WTA Tennis at the third Major Event on the 2024 Tour. Ej’s Rebecca Marino vs Martina Capurro Taborda prediction features odds at +145 which can be found below.

Marino is one of three Canadian ladies taking part in the qualifying process for the main draw, and all three are in action today.

Capurro Taborda has earned seven titles on clay, all coming in the last two years but in lower-tier events, and she is the underdog in Paris on Tuesday morning.

MARINO VS CAPURRO TABORDA PREDICTION: CANUCKISTAN PRIDE IN PARIS

  • Prediction: Match Total Under 19.5 Games
  • Best Odds: +145
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time May 21, 2024. Odds may now differ.

While one might be impressed by the seven titles on clay for Martina Capurro Taborda, let’s make no mistake regarding the level of tennis for the accomplishments.

In 2012, Martina won two W15 events on clay, and then she was out of the game until 2021 short of 3 matches she played in 2016. All five titles she earned in 2022-23 were W25 ITF events against a much lower talent level. Hell, her biggest win this year is against 175th-ranked Aliona Falei, and she started the 2024 hard-court campaign playing in only four total matches. She lost all four of those matches and has won three of her 10 matches on clay with that win over Falei.

Rebecca Marino is no one to fear on clay, and that is a bit of an understatement if we’re being honest. Marino was 19 – 7 on hard courts before entering the clay portion of the campaign, including her WTA100 run to the title in Morelia, Mexico.

Clay season has arrived, and I know it will be an adventure this season, with Becca on the dirt. I don’t think that she will struggle with the Argentinian at all. I am calling for a 6 – 2, 6 – 3 win for the Canuck in Paris to kick off qualifying with a convincing victory.

Move the total down to 19.5 Games, play the Under, and enjoy the payout of +145 for the Marino vs Taborda qualifier at the French Open. My Marino vs Capurro Taborda predictions for  Marino to cover the -3.5 Handicap. This is also priced nicely at +115, so make that a bonus bet for brunch on Tuesday in Paris!

REBECCA MARINO RECENT FORM

Rebecca Marino is 0 – 2 on clay this season and has a record of 13 – 21 as a pro on this surface.

Marino was bounced in the first round at San Luis Pitosi in Mexico by her fellow Canadian Marina Stukusic, who is also playing today in Paris.

Rebecca’s only other outing on clay came in Bogota in early April, a straight-set loss in ugly fashion against Bouzkova.

MARTINA CAPURRO TABORDA RECENT FORM

Capurro Taborda was 55 – 16 in 2023 on clay, but almost every tourney was in lower-tier events.

Martina is 3 – 7 on clay this season, and the French Open is quite a step up from a W100 event in her native Argentina or the like.

MARINO VS CAPURRO TABORDA H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH:
