Qualifying has concluded so it’s time to begin play in the main draw of the Wuhan Open and a section 1 clash will take place on Monday between Marie Bouzkova and Veronika Kudermetova.

Kudermetova is gaining the early steam favored at -125 to advance to the second round in section 1, as this was an even line when the match was first announced.

Bouzkova was last seen in Guadalajara in mid-September and the Czech native had to withdraw from the event in Mexico due to injury.

EJ Garr’s Marie Bouzkova vs Veronika Kudermetova prediction features odds at -100 which you can find below.

Marie Bouzkova vs Veronika Kudermetova Prediction: Early Steam on Kudermetova

  • Prediction: Marie Bouzkova Moneyline
  • Best Odds: -100
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds updated at 7:00 am UK Time on October 7, 2024.

Veronika Kudermetova and Marie Bouzkova were each listed at -110 when they were paired in the main draw of the Wuhan Open.

As the day turns to night here in New York on Sunday, I see -125 on the odds of a Kudermetova win in the first-round affair against Bouzkova. Instead of watching that line inflate, I am locking in Bouzkova to win this match at -100 when it was -110 just hours ago.

A stomach issue caused Bouzkova to pull herself from the Guadalajara event before a quarterfinal match with Caroline Garcia on September 13. That ended the North American swing for the Czech native after getting off to such a good start to the portion of the WTA Tour.

Bouzkova reached the Washington, DC final, and after the loss to Paula Badosa, it’s been tough for Marie to pick up a win streak. Bouzkova did take Kudermetova out of the French Open a couple of months ago and she’ll need to find that type of effort as an underdog in this WTA1000 event in China.

The fact we have an even line for Bouzkova to win this match points me to this underdog to upset the slightly favored Kudermetova.

At +240, Bet365 has the best offer on the 2 – 0 correct score toward a Bouzkova sweep, so look for that and get in on that action! Hopefully, you’ll get an even better price in the morning on Bouzkova to win this match outright.

MARIE BOUZKOVA RECENT FORM

Marie Bouzkova is ranked 42nd on the WTA Tour and the Czech native is in danger of having a losing record in 2024.

Bouzkova is 16 – 16 on hard courts this year and has a 21 – 18 record in 2024 dealing with a couple of stints away from the game due to injuries.

Bouzkova had a stomach ailment that required her to bail from the Guadalajara event and it’s been three weeks since she’s played a competitive match.

VERONIKA KUDERMETOVA RECENT FORM

Kudermetova is ranked 39th on the WTA Tour and this match might get moved to Tuesday since she lost in Beijing on Sunday in doubles.

Veronika is 9 – 13 in hard courts this year with a 17 – 22 record in 2024 and her run of 6 years without a losing record is in deep jeopardy without a deep run in one of the last few events of the campaign,

BOUZKOVA VS KUDERMETOVA H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Bouzkova and Kudermetova have met 5 times since the 2019 campaign and the latter holds a 3 – 2 edge in the series.

The first meeting was in 2019 at Guadalajara and Kudermetova destroyed the Czech native in the finals to hoist the Mexican hardware at 2 and love.

In January 2020 right before the COVID-19 pandemic, Bouzkova beat Kudermetova in three sets to qualify for the Brisbane event in Australia.

In March 2022, Bouzkova couldn’t finish the match with Kudermetova and walked off the court with a loss after one set.

Last year in Rome, Kudermetova beat Bouzkova in straight sets and I mentioned the meeting at the French Open this year which Bouzkova won.
