Qualifier Mananchaya Sawangkaew has reached the quarterfinal of the Jiujiang Open and the Thailander will be listed as the underdog when she takes on Laura Siegemund in China.

After reaching this stage at Guangzhou last week, Sawangkaew has reeled off four straight wins to secure consecutive quarter-final appearances in Asia.

Laura Siegemund is currently ranked outside the top 100 on the WTA Tour but the line setters expect the German native to advance to the semifinals with odds as high as -170.

EJ Garr’s Mananchaya Sawangkaew vs. Laura Siegemund prediction expects a three-set affair so jump on his tip at +141 odds which you can find below.

We’re going the distance and a +141 offer is on the table for Unibet users for the Over 2.5 Sets prop.

Get on it because this match will go three sets and I’ll tell you how I know it.

Sawangkaew is 8 – 1 in the last 9 outings and making a second straight quarterfinals appearance after the four wins at Guangzhou. The list of names from those wins might not be filled with high-profile players but the loss to 52nd-ranked Olga Danilovic in Guangzhou was still a great battle that went to 6 – 4, 6 – 4.

The 22-year-old Thailander is considered the #1 from her country now that she appears in the top 150 WTA Rankings (147). With the QF showing in Guangzhou, Sawangkaew became the first player from Thailand to reach that stage of a WTA-level event. That was a WTA250 tourney as this event is this week at Jiujiang.

There is room for concern after what just happened yesterday. Sawangkaew was a third-set tie-break away from losing to 988th-ranked Siasai Zheng. Down 6 – 4, the Thai native mounted up enough effort to sneak past the wildcard entrant, 8 – 6. Zheng won the first set, 6 – 4, and the pressure was already on Sawangkaew who almost wasn’t here today.

Siegemund struggled with 200th-ranked Tamara Korpastch but got past her German counterpart at 6 – 4, 6 – 4.

Sawangkaew can take a set from Siegemund to force this match to go the distance so enjoy the +141 offer from Unibet.

MANANCHAYA SAWANGKAEW RECENT FORM

Sawangkaew is closing in on a third straight campaign with a winning record. With 50 wins this season, the Thai native became the first from her country to reach back-to-back quarterfinal showing in a WTA-level event.

Sawangkaew has only played one event on clay since turning pro and has been winless on grass since 2019 in two outings.

LAURA SIEGEMUND RECENT FORM

Siegemund ended the 2023 campaign with a ranking of 86th on the WTA Tour and the German native took a step backward in 2024. Currently ranked 101st, Siegemund is 15 – 11 on hard courts this season and hasn’t won an event over the last two campaigns.

The 36-year-old veteran on the WTA Tour is 27 – 20 this year and will finish a 13th consecutive campaign with a winning record.

SAWANGKAEW VS SIEGEMUND H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH
