Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on February 24, 2025. Odds may now differ.
Are you ready for an ugly outing between Linette and Cocciaretto?
Buckle up for one long afternoon of unforced errors and mistakes, but luckily, the game count will fly and lead to a three-set nightmare!
I don’t usually refer to three-set affairs as nightmares, but wait until you see the final stats for this first-round clash when it is over.
With a mere -125 listed for Linette to advance to the next stage of this WTA500 event in Mexico, I imagine some action will go toward the Polska native to advance.
Nothing about Cocciaretto’s game should poise the line setters to call for an even battle, but maybe it is because they have played well against each other. Both of their meetings have gone through three sets.
The Italian finally earned two victories in Cluj to start the month, but since the loss to compatriot Lucia Bronzetti Cocciaretto has taken the last 3 weeks off.
I will reduce the juice and settle for the -111 odds on Linette to cover the marginal -1 game handicap. I am not a fan of -125 odds or higher, and this line might inflate as we get closer to the coin flipping.
I have zero confidence in Cocciaretto to achieve anything in this tournament, and Linette will be the one to slide into the second round. I find it odd that William Hill is posting +170 for a straight-sets win for the Polska native.
I’ll take Linette to cover the -1 and somehow we see ugly enough tennis to get to a third set to push the Polska native through to the next stage.
