Wildcard entrant Maddison Inglis will take on 7-seed Erika Andreeva in the second round of the Puerto Vallarta Open on Wednesday, with a trip to the quarterfinals on the line.

While one of the Andreeva sisters is enjoying much success lately, Erika is clinging to the top 100 WTA Rankings. The 95th-ranked Andreeva is listed with odds of -135 to progress to the next stage, but our resident WTA expert is questioning that line.

EJ Garr’s prediction for Maddison Inglis vs. Erika Andreeva features odds at +105, which can be found below.

Maddison Inglis vs Erika Andreeva WTA Puerto Vallarta Challenger Prediction: An Upset Brewing in Mexico

  • Prediction: Maddison Inglis to Win
  • Best Odds: +105
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on March 26, 2025. Odds may now differ.

Erika Andreeva at -135? The line on the 7-seed at the Miami Open is the sole reason I picked this gem out, because seeing Andreeva favored made me chuckle!

I think the line setters are setting up favorite bettors with what looks like an easy winner, but I digress.

If you chalk-heads could please hit Andreeva for me, we can get a better line than +105 on the underdog to win this match. I will wait in this line, hoping to see -150 on Andreeva so I can smash the +120 odds we would get on the Australian to advance to the quarterfinals of the Puerto Vallarta Challenger.

The win over Claudia Martinez Solis might have been convincing for Andreeva in the first round, but were you expecting another result? I haven’t looked, but I assume that the qualifier from Mexico isn’t ranked in the top 1000, so a 6 – 1, 6 – 1 win is just paperwork. Okay, I looked. 1289th!

I hope the line setters used that convincing win to account for when they put Andreeva on the board as the favorite.

Inglis’ win over 360th-ranked Emily Appleton in the first round produced a similar win for the Aussie, 6 – 1, 6 – 2.

I can foresee this match going the distance, with each winning a set before Inglis earns the advancement to the quarters. The 2 – 1 Correct Score prop is listed at +370, and that’s when the party starts after cashing those types of tickets.

Let’s call it a 2 – 1 win for the Aussie. The main play is Inglis to win with a small action bet on the 2 – 1 CS with lovely odds of +370.
