A second-round clash between Leylah Fernandez and Emma Navarro is set for Monday in the Qatar Open renewing their North American rivalry. The American native is listed as a slight favorite to defeat her Canadian counterpart but Fernandez has won four of their five meetings on the WTA Tour.

With marginal juice at -125, Navarro is expected to progress to the third round in section 2 but this match will take some time to finish.

EJ Garr’s prediction for Leylah Fernandez vs. Emma Navarro features odds at +130 which you can find below.

Leylah Fernandez vs Emma Navarro WTA Qatar Open Prediction: North American Clash at Doha

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds: +130
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on February 10, 2025. Odds may now differ.

You bet we’re going the distance! The line setters aren’t hiding this fact with a mere +130 on the Over 2.5 sets prop. We are used to seeing +145 and +138 at the lowest with these offers.

I see +125 with a lowball offer at a couple of bookmakers and all that points to is a 3-set match between two North Americans who know each other well.

Even though they didn’t meet last season, this is the sixth time since the 2019 French Open that Fernandez and Navarro will battle it out. I’ll explain their heads-up records later but Fernandez has never struggled with Navarro taking four wins against the American in five meetings.

Navarro was a three-set machine at the Australian Open going 4 – 0 with every match going the distance before losing to Swiatek. Iga humiliated Navarro in the Major quarterfinal so it will be interesting to see how she bounces back from such a harsh defeat (1 & 2).

Navarro has been off the court for 19 days so that could factor into the outcome of this second-round affair at Doha.

Fernandez won two matches at Abu Dhabi before the loss to Ashlyn Krueger. The Canadian native hasn’t won more than twice in any of the five tournament appearances this season and opened this WTA1000 event with an easy win over Greet Minnen.

Navarro and Fernandez will be facing a lengthy, three-set battle so the +130 on the Over 2.5 sets prop is the play to make.

LEYLAH FERNANDEZ RECENT FORM

Leylah Fernandez starts the week ranked 27th on the WTA Tour and will also be playing in doubles at Doha.

Fernandez is 8 – 4 in 2025 following a 31 – 25 record last season and has yet to get out of the second round of her first five events in 2025. The run to the Hong Kong semifinal was the last time Fernandez won a trio of affairs in an event.

EMMA NAVARRO RECENT FORM

Emma Navarro played four matches at the Australian Open and needed three sets to win all four outings. There was no set win against Swiatek as the thumping at 1 and 2 was a terrible outcome for the American.

Navarro went 1 – 2 to begin the 2025 campaign and is now 5 – 3 after the four wins at the first Major Tournament of the campaign.

An early exit at Doha could see the American’s ranking drop from 9th after reaching a career-high 8th last season.

FERNANDEZ VS NAVARRO HTH –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Leylah Fernandez and Emma Navarro first met at the 2019 French Open and the Canadian began their North American rivalry with a straight-sets win. Oh, that was in the finals when the two were still playing in the Girls’ event which earned Fernandez a significant title before the pair turned pro.

They played an exhibition match in 2020 which Fernandez won in straight sets so that barely counts.

Fernandez and Navarro met three times in 2023 and Fernandez won two of the three games.
