It’s that time again for a match that goes three sets which means we’re going the distance when Jeanjean and Stojanovic square off at the Florianopolis Challenger.
As you know I covered Stojanovic against Riera at the Argentina Open. I knew the hangover effect of winning the Colina Challenger would affect Stojanovic. I expected Riera to give the Serbian a battle and she did more than that by sweeping Stojanovic in the first round.
Stojanovic looked prepared in the first-round win to kick off this WTA125 event in Brazil but it wasn’t a challenge. The Serbian dismantled 616th-ranked Ana Candiotto at 2 & 1, which didn’t surprise anyone as the handicap for that affair was -7.5 games and covered easily.
Jeanjean was taken to a second-set tie-break against 296th-ranked Daria Lodikova in the first round but managed the sweep after the 6 – 1 opening frame win. I doubt that Jeanjean overlooked Lodikova expecting an easier victory but it was a wild second frame in which both players were broken three times en route to the 7 – 6 win for Jeanjean.
Jeanjean can take a set from Stojanovic and force the Serbian to win this match in three sets. Check out William Hill for the 2 – 1 correct score at +340 on the Stojanovic win.
Unibet has the best odds on the Over 2.5 sets at +143 so that is the main play for this second-round affair at the Florianopolis Challenger.
