Mitchell Krueger vs Vit Kopriva Prediction, Picks, Odds, H2H, August 20th
We’re onto the last major of the year as the US Open has arrived. While most of the tennis world’s attention is on the ATP & WTA Tour action this week, qualifying is underway in New York.
Let me tell you, with so many matches to price up and lesser known players with less data on them, these four weeks of the year can provide some of the best value in tennis betting. With that in mind, let’s break down Mitchell Krueger vs Vit Kopriva.
Kopriva’s win probability is slightly north of 40%, while Krueger is favoured to win at 1.62 odds. The handicap is two games and the total games line is 22.5.
Our Krueger vs Kopriva prediction is for Krueger to win.

As well as Kopriva played last week (though a long week in Europe with travel involved before starting a qualifying campaign this week may not be ideal), I think there were some quality of competition issues and I’m still not sold on his game on medium paced hard courts.
Though some players have alluded to the courts not being as quick as Cincinnati as some had reported a few days ago, they’re still far from playing slowly, with the ball still getting through the courts and first serves looking more impactful than they would on a slower court.
That hasn’t been where Kopriva has been at his best in the past. Don’t get me wrong, the guy can smack the ball from the baseline. His problem – as is the case with many who can hit hard, but prefer clay courts – is more to do with timing.
When the ball comes back at him in a fairly flat manner and skids through the court, he has much less time to set up his shots and with an aggressive mindset and no real “Plan B” in place, he tends to be rushed and commit more errors.
Krueger isn’t someone who is going to overwhelm you with pace, but he has a sneaky strong first serve, hits fairly flat from the baseline and can push strong players, despite never really having broken through himself.

Mitchell Krueger Recent Form
I think the 30-year-old would be pretty content with the way his summer has gone in 2024. He hasn’t done a whole lot, but his last four losses are ones that I don’t think he’ll be too upset with.
He also had some nice wins in those tournaments and kept things close as an underdog in two of those four defeats.
It sums up Krueger pretty well. He has an unheralded game that is by no means weak, but can’t really blow many players off the court and without a whole lot of variety to his game, he has the ability to rack up wins at the lower levels, but a fairly capped ceiling as well.
With decent first serves playing up this week and Kopriva easy to rush with any kind of pace, I think Krueger should find success on the regular on Tuesday.
Vit Kopriva Recent Form
Kopriva had his best hard court tournament of the season just last week in preparation for this qualifying campaign that is worth a lot of money to a Challenger Tour player like him.
Other than that run, which featured a few wins against lesser players and one against a fading Norbert Gombos from a set down, Kopriva has been average on hard courts.
He hadn’t really done much prior to that run in Kozerki prior to that recently, even on his preferred clay courts. That further reinforces the belief that last week’s run may have been more a byproduct of his opposition, rather than his own strong play.
One thing working in his favour is that he does know this situation well. He qualified into the Australian Open back in January, on even quicker courts. Can he make it 2/2 at hard court grand slam events in qualification?
Mitchell Krueger vs Vit Kopriva H2H – Stat of the Match
This is the first meeting between Krueger and Kopriva. It’ll be interesting to see if the rising Kopriva and his weapons can close the gap on the more established hard courter in Krueger.
