Karolina Muchova vs Jasmine Paolini Prediction, Picks, Odds, H2H, Stats - 9/2/24
A spot in the US Open quarterfinal is on the line for Karolina Muchova and Jasmine Paolini. The Czech native will be listed as the chalk at -150 to get past the Italian on Monday in New York but Jasmine is not about to go away without a fight.
The Italian native has landed in the finals of the last two Major Tournaments and the World’s #5 is coming off a good test in Round 3 against Yulia Putintseva.
Muchova has cruised into the fourth round with three straight-set wins at the final Major of the 2024 campaign. Still, EJ Garr’s Karolina Muchova vs Jasmine Paolini prediction has an Italian theme on the underdog at +127!

Paolini sorride ai quarti! I’ll translate that and tell you that Jasmine will be smiling her way into the quarterfinals in New York after upsetting Muchova on Monday!
After Jasmine needed three points to get past Pliskova who retired from the second round, Chris McKendry had Jasmine on set and they spoke for a good 15 minutes.
Pointing out that Jasmine hadn’t gotten out of the second round in any Major before this season, reaching the French Open and Wimbledon finals has launched the Italian to the #5 spot in the WTA Rankings. When Chris asked Jasmine what led to the sudden rise in her game, the smiling Tuscan resident responded by saying the win in Dubai early in the campaign gave her confidence that she could compete in big events.
I could talk about my fellow Italian all day, so let’s get into Muchova’s run to the fourth round. Let’s start with the fact that Karolina was a semifinalist in New York last season and that she is well-rested coming into the match with Paolini.
Muchova has played a total of 14 matches in 2024 but she looks in great shape and is gaining confidence with every outing that includes three straight-set wins in New York last week.
Jasmine takes the 2 – 1 sets win with the upset over Karolina at +127.
KAROLINA MUCHOVA RECENT FORM
Muchova got a late start the 2024 campaign and has only participated in 14 matches this campaign as I mentioned above.
Karolina is still going to produce a winning record on all three surfaces this year despite the limited time on tour.
Muchova is a 2023 semifinalist at the US Open and that is motivation enough to get back there again. After missing so much time in 2024 a quarterfinal showing in New York puts $530,000 in your pocket and that will make up for some lost time should she get there.
JASMINE PAOLINI RECENT FORM
Jasmine Paolini had an interesting opening round battle with Bianca Andreescu and the Italian had to mount a comeback after the tie-break loss in the opening frame to the Canadian. With 6 – 2, 6 – 2 closing sets to finish off Andreescu, Jasmine only had to play three points before Pliskova retired in the second round.
Paolini got to play under a closed roof against Putintseva on Saturday and despite a rocky first-set the Italian held serve in the second set en route to the fourth round appearance.
Jasmine is about to do something she’s never accomplished in her career and that is have a winning record on all three surfaces in 2024.
MUCHOVA VS PAOLINI HTH – STAT OF THE MATCH
And a 1, and a 2, and a 3… take me out to the… wait, wrong sport, that is for the 7th-inning stretch of Chicago Cubs’ games HA!
What I meant was Muchova has played Paolini three times and all of the spoils have gone to the Czech native.
In June of 2018, the two first met in Manchester on grass, and Muchova earned a straight-sets win leading to the encounter at the US Open two months later. Muchova again took out Paolini in straight sets.
The last time they met was at Melbourne in 2021 and Jasmine finally took a set from Muchova but fell to the Czech for the third time.
