The 4-seed Xinyu Wang will take on qualifier Jil Teichmann in the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open and the Chinese native is favored to reach the semifinals of this WTA250 event.

Teichmann hasn’t dropped a set from four wins this week and the Swiss native is ready to defy the odds.

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on January 31, 2025. Odds may now differ.
Jil Teichmann came through for us yesterday, covering the handicap with the -1.5 games and taking down Olivia Gadecki in straight sets. Teichmann has been favored to beat all four of her opponents this week in Singapore, but now the roles have reversed.
Teichmann has odds at +165 to win this match at Pinnacle and the line setters aren’t doubting that the Swiss native can win a set in this affair. At -170, Teichmann should win a set and force this match to go the distance.
Wang carried the 4-seed into this WTA250 event and her first-round win against Rebecca Marino was one of the most exciting matches in the tourney. With 34 games played in a three-set thriller, Wang advanced and wiped out Maya Joint in straight sets to reach the quarterfinal.
Admittingly, that loss to Emerson Jones at Adelaide is still bothering me and I mentioned it in my Joint vs. Wang preview. Ironically, Teichmann took on Jones three days later at the Australian Open and the Swiss native handled Jones easily.
Wang has gotten past it and is now third on the list of outrights to win this WTA250 event at +500 behind Mertens and Kalinskaya.
If Wang advances to the semifinals, it will take three sets to get there because we are going the distance. With a fair price of +155 on the Over 2.5 Sets prop, Teichmann will not go away quietly into the Singapore night!
JIL TEICHMANN RECENT FORM
Jil Teichmann improved to 6 – 2 in 2025 with the win over Gadecki in the second round of the Singapore Open.
Teichmann has never won a hardcourt tournament but has claimed four titles on clay since 2019. The 27-year-old Swiss native hasn’t produced a winning record on hard courts in three years but so far, so good!
XINYU WANG RECENT FORM
Xinyu Wang was a slight underdog against Maya Joint as the 4-seed in this event but the Chinese native made quick work of the Australian to reach the quarters.
Wang is 4 – 3 in 2025 and after a 31 – 26 record in 2024, she completed a fifth straight campaign with a winning record.
TEICHMANN VS WANG HTH – STAT OF THE MATCH
Jil Teichmann and Xinyu Wang have met once on the WTA Tour. The match occurred in 2023 at Osaka and Wang earned a straight-sets win after a first-set tie-break.
The winner of this match will face Camila Osorio or Elise Mertens in the semifinals of the Singapore Open this weekend. My preview and prediction for that quarterfinal affair will be available today.
