Jessica Pegula and Karolina Muchova mishandled their quarterfinal opponents and now we have a fantastic US Open semifinal affair in store!

Jessia Pegula took advantage of a strong ground stroke and nearly 40 unforced errors against the World’s #1 Iga Swiatek on Wednesday night, and the American is playing in her first semi at a Major.

Muchova made quick work of Beatriz Haddad Maia in the quarters and has now made back-to-back appearances in New York chasing her first Major title.

EJ Garr’s Jessica Pegula vs Karolina Muchova prediction calls for an epic semifinal match that goes the distance. Check out his tip with -111 odds below.

Jessica Pegula vs Karolina Muchova US Open SF Prediction: American At Home In NY

  • Prediction: Jess Pegula -3 Games Handicap
  • Best Odds: -111
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on September 5, 2024. Odds may now differ.

Jess Pegula put up a monumental effort against Iga Swiatek in prime time at the US Open on Wednesday night and now the New York native will be favored to be playing on Saturday for a Major piece of hardware!

Swiatek was thrown off her game all night trying to deal with Pegula’s low, hard shots deep at the baseline. Iga committed 38 unforced errors chattering at her box throughout the night frustrated and out of her element.

Before 75% of the crowd at Arthur Ashe got in their seats for the quarterfinal, Pegula was up 4 games to Love and had already broken Swiatek twice! Iga had held all 36 service games in New York leading to the quarters and that streak ended in short order. Jess broke Iga twice in each set en route to the sweep of the Polish #1 giving Jess four wins against top-ranked women on the WTA Tour.

Muchova seemed to struggle to get through her match and Haddad Maia also needed time to catch her breath late in the second set. It was a strange scene watching them both going through different things but if Muchova isn’t 100% it will be a long, but short day in New York on Thursday.

I can’t fade Jessica Pegula with her serve in check after a confidence-boosting win over Swiatek. Along with the crowd in New York, Jessica will be your US Open Finalist so I’m playing the -2.5 Games Handicap with a potential All-American final in New York.

JESSICA PEGULA RECENT FORM

Jess Pegula took advantage of Iga’s 9 unforced errors after only three games of action in the quarters, and after jumping out to a 4 – 0 lead Swiatek’s serve further fell apart. Iga only converted 36% of her first serves in play in the opening frame (2 of first 12) and double-faulted to go down 0 – 3 to Pegula early.

Jess kept the ball down and hit a heavy shot all night and Iga pounded the ball into the net all night to keep Swiatek frustrated.

Pegula had to wait 7 minutes after the first set for Iga to change her kit and regroup, but Jess kept her composure and finished business in straight sets.

KAROLINA MUCHOVA RECENT FORM

Karolina Muchova was complaining of stomach issues and in the middle of the second set, she just walked into the locker room to deal with something. Medical was called in and gave her a pill which got the Czech native through the match but she never looked 100% comfortable.

Muchova’s wrist looks fine but if she isn’t in the best shape Pegula will make it a long night in New York as a favorite with the home crowd on her side to boot.

PEGULA VS MUCHOVA HTH –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Pegula and Muchova have officially met once because their first scheduled meeting never happened. Muchova withdrew from Dubai early last season but the two recently met in Cincinnati.

On August 16, Pegula got past Muchova in three sets to take a 1 – 0 series lead.
