Jannik Sinner vs Andy Murray National Bank Open Preview and Expert Tip: Sinner Poised to Exploit Murray’s Time on Court
Jannik Sinner vs Andy Murray (National Bank Open): Thursday, August 10th
Well, we correctly identified that Gael Monfils had the game to trouble and push Stefanos Tsitsipas. Problem is, he didn’t just beat the Greek outright, but his tennis was too strong on the day, resulting in the over 22.5 games not coming in.
For Thursday’s ATP preview, it’s Jannik Sinner vs Andy Murray from the National Bank Open in Toronto that is showing some value for my money.
Jannik Sinner vs Andy Murray Expert Tip
I can’t get away from how lopsided this match is by my numbers. The matchup works for Sinner, the talent gap in 2023 favours Sinner in a big way, and the time spent on court for each of these guys would also point to Sinner not only likely to win, but potentially winning by margin to boot.
Opposing Murray here with a player of Sinner’s calibre is a no-brainer for me.

- Expert Tip: Jannik Sinner -3.5 Games Match Handicap at 1.66 on bet365 , using 4/10 stakes.
Jannik Sinner Recent Form
It was a solid return to hard-court play for Sinner on Wednesday, as he beat his countryman Matteo Berrettini rather comfortably in straight sets to reach the final 16. Having had a bye in the first round, it means Sinner has spent just 90 minutes on court to reach the third round in Toronto.
It also means his record on hard courts in 2023 (both indoors and outdoors) stands at 22-5, with losses to Daniil Medvedev (twice), Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Sebastian Korda. It takes an elite level – especially from the baseline – to beat Sinner on this surface.
Already a top-10 player in the world, the sky feels like the limit for the 21-year-old if he can fill out physically and improve that serve even more.
Andy Murray Recent Form
It feels like Murray is on the cusp of regaining some semblance of his former level of late, but his game just doesn’t seem to have the juice it used to.
He has won three fairly high-level events on the Challenger Tour this season and his last few losses have come to Taylor Fritz and Stefanos Tsitsipas in a deciding set, but it’s worth noting the circumstances in each of those matches.
Fritz had been coming off a title and another win in Washington, and we saw his legs start to give way a bit and his serve become less effective, while Tsitsipas was on grass, his worst surface and one where Murray has been great.
Pit him against a fairly fresh Sinner, with tired legs of his own (he’s been on court for five hours the last two days and won’t have a day off) and with a game that now lacks some power and I’m not holding my breath that he’s going to find a way to make things competitive.
Jannik Sinner vs Andy Murray H2H – Stat of the Match
Murray has spent over three times as long (4: 56) on court in this tournament as Sinner (1: 56).
