As expected, Iga Swiatek is a heavy favorite to get past Qinwen Zheng in Paris’s semifinals of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

The Worlds #1 is listed at -1100 to plow her way into the semifinal of the XXXIII Olympiad, and the Polish native has her eyes on the gold medal.

While Iga carries a 23-match win streak on clay into the semis, Qinwen Zheng brings a modest 9-match streak on the dirt which could make this semifinal battle interesting.

Something has to give, and EJ Garr’s Iga Swiatek vs Qinwen Zheng prediction features odds at -115, which can be found below.

Iga Swiatek vs Qinwen Zheng Prediction: A Top 10 Clash in Paris

  • Prediction: Qinwen Zheng +6.5 Games Handicap
  • Best Odds: -115
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds updated 7:00 am UK Time on August 1, 2024.

Iga Swiatek was challenged on Wednesday but the American couldn’t finish what she started. After taking a brief medical time-out in the third set, Collins walked off the court just minutes later to give Iga the quarterfinal victory.

If I am being honest, I don’t know if Dani was hurt or just so frustrated with herself that she couldn’t take it anymore so she quit the match. Collins smacked 7 aces against the Polish #1 but the 24 unforced errors took a toll and I will assume that had some part of the American’s frustration.

The heat in Paris has been an issue all week, and Collins was complaining of cramps and fatigue from the third-round match against Xiyu Wang on Tuesday. The conditions at the French Capital on Wednesday weren’t any better but Swiatek managed to deal with it and advance. Collins walked off the court rather pissed off about the lack of cool water and shade made available to the players in this heat.

There’s no crying in tennis!

Qinwen Zheng has been playing incredible tennis on clay this season and with a win today she could stretch her win streak to 10 games. Zheng sent Angie Kerber packing on Tuesday, and now the German has officially retired from the game.

I hate trying to fade Iga in any way but +6.5 games is too much to pass on so Zheng to cover the handicap goes in as the play for this semifinal at the Olympic Games.

IGA SWIATEK RECENT FORM

Iga is carrying a 23-game win streak on clay into this semifinal affair and the Worlds #1  is 32 – 1 over the last 33 matches on the dirt.`

As impressive as that is, I was not happy to hear about the encounter between Collins and Swiatek after the quarterfinal match. Dani called out Iga for having no class when they met at the net, although none of us knew what was said.

QINWEN ZHENG RECENT FORM

Zheng has confidence in clay and the heat in Paris will affect both players again today.

With a 15 – 4 record on clay this season, Zheng shouldn’t feel overwhelmed despite the poor history against Swiatek.

Zheng has seven career titles on clay and that experience will help try to pull a massive upset at the Olympic Games.

SWIATEK VS ZHENG H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Iga Swiatek and Qinwen Zheng have met 6 times, and the Polish native is 6 – 0 in those affairs.

The two met for the first time on clay at the French Open in 2022, and Zheng gave Iga all she could handle in a three-set affair. Three of the six meetings have gone the distance, and I will not be shocked if Zheng finds a way to take a set from Worlds #1.
