Iga Swiatek vs Anna Schmiedlova Prediction, Picks, Odds, H2H, Stats - 8/2/24
The Bronze Medal is on the line when Iga Swiatek and Anna Schmiedlova square off at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Iga Swiatek has been at the center of attention at Roland Garros but it’s not for the best reasons after taking the loss in the semifinals.
Anna Schmiedlova ran out of gas against Donna Vekic in the other semifinal in Paris, so now the Slovak will have to beat the World’s #1 ranked to earn the Bronze!
EJ Garr’s Iga Swiatek vs Anna Schmiedlova prediction features odds at -105 for this Bronze Medal match in Paris.

I am not happy with Iga Swiatek over the last two days because she has all eyes on her and is arguably the best women’s tennis player on the planet. The Danielle Collins incident I spoke of yesterday is becoming a bigger story here in the States.
Collins was not shy about ripping Iga for the words spoken after the American couldn’t finish the quarterfinal, as Iga wasn’t exactly compassionate. I’ll leave that there.
In the semifinal on Wednesday, Iga walked off the court after the defeat to Zheng and didn’t even acknowledge the Chair. I get that Iga’s expectations were over the moon with nothing less than a Gold Medal in Paris in mind.
I’m not touching the pity party at the post-game press conference either.
So where is Iga Swiatek’s mind right now? Will a Bronze Medal be worth the chase or will the Polish #1 be so distraught that she can’t focus or doesn’t care? Not being on the podium at all would mean a loss to Schmiedlova and two losses in two days at a place like Roland Garros.
I rode the Schmiedlova train as far as I could take it, and Donna Vekic put that cart in the station yesterday!
Betting this match is difficult, and the lines aren’t user-friendly as Iga is -3500 and the total is 16.5 games. That’s ugly and after Schmiedlova collapsed 6 – 0 in that second set against Vekic, now what?
I’ll put a 1U bet on the Under 16.5 expecting a 6 – 2, 6- 2 Bronze Medal match as long as Iga cares to go get it.
IGA SWIATEK RECENT FORM
We will know right out of the gate what approach Iga takes to this Bronze Medal match.
As disappointing as a Bronze Medal is in the grand scheme of things, not appearing on the podium would be an even bigger disappointment.
Swiatek just had the 23-match win streak snapped along with her run of wins at Roland Garros over the last three years.
ANNA SCHMIEDLOVA RECENT FORM
Anna finally lost the 101st game on clay (170 Wins), and as you know I have been updating her record on clay throughout the Olympic Games. What a run it was until that second set debacle against Vekic but this is not just another favorite across the court today.
If Iga is in her right mind, I don’t see Anna providing another upset in Paris, although the Slovak did win four matches as the underdog in this event.
I didn’t take but an hour for Vekic to send Schmiedlova to the Brornze Medal game and this is the sixth game in six days for both of these women.
SWIATEK VS SCHMIEDLOVA HTH – STAT OF THE MATCH
This will be the first meeting between Swiatek and Schmiedlova on any surface.
