A Section 7 clash at the China Open will bring Greet Minnen and Erika Andreeva together in the first round on Tuesday in Beijing.

Andreeva will open this WTA1000 event as the slight favorite with odds at -135 to progress to the second round and a 21.5 line is showing on the match total.

Greet Minnen is stuck in a cycle of alternating wins and losses over the last 9 outings as the Belgian native is clinging to a top 100 ranking.

EJ Garr’s Greet Minnen vs Erika Andreeva prediction leans on the favorite to have success and you can find his offer at -115 below.

Greet Minnen vs Erika Andreeva Prediction: Belgian Slated As The Underdog

  • Prediction: Erika Andreeva -1 Games Handicap
  • Best Odds: -115
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds updated at 7:00 am UK Time on September 24, 2024.

Erika Andreeva at -135 is a fair price for those parlay seekers because the juice on that offer isn’t extreme. As you know about me, I have yet to post an offer with odds past -120 on this site because the ROI on single bets is important to keep in check.

I see the Andreeva -1 at -111 at Pinnacle, and amazingly, before I finished this article I rechecked the lines. I am currently looking at -115 and hope the -1 handicap doesn’t reach that -120 plateau.

I don’t see Greet Minnen as a threat to take a set in this match as I review the gravity of the losses during this weird run of alternating wins and losses for the Belgian native. Minnen hasn’t been able to string two wins together since the beginning of the North American swing in Toronto.

The three wins in Canada didn’t come easily against Timea Babos (291) and Destanee Aiava (180) as she was pushed to three sets in both affairs before the win over Sloane Stephens.

Losing Sonmez and that strange exit after dropping the first set against 458th-ranked Martina Okalova in Columbia still stick with me.

Andreeva is ranked 67th on the WTA Tour and the 20-year-old is still chasing that first tourney win at the WTA level that has avoided her for three years. This might be the event she gets there but a second-round appearance is expected so the -1 handicap goes on the board.

GREET MINNEN RECENT FORM

Greet Minnen hasn’t been able to pick up any steam after going 3 – 1 in Toronto to start the North American swing. The Belgian ended her trip to the East alternating wins and losses and has suffered too many one-and-done’s this campaign.

Minnen has lost her first outing in an event 10 times this year and has only won three matches in three tournaments at best in 2024.

It baffles me how a 27-year-old, which we consider a prime year to be in top shape, has struggled this badly. Minnen ended 2023 ranked 60th after a 56- 19 campaign, and now she is on the brink of having a losing record at 23 – 28 this year.

ERIKA ANDREEVA FORM

Erika Andreeva hasn’t won a tournament title since 2021 and the three wins at the ITF level seem like forever ago for the 20-year-old International.

Andreeva is dealing with a similar issue to Greet Minnen. Erika hasn’t won three matches in one event since March in Charleston maxing out at two wins at best since then.

Andreeva is 22 – 13 on hard courts this year with a 33 – 23 record in 2024.

MINNEN VS ANDREEVA H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

This will be the first encounter between Greet Minnen and Erika Andreeva on the WTA Tour.

The winner of this affair will advance to face 28-seed Anastasia Potapova in the second round of the China Open.
