The Tennis Channel aired the Avanesyan match with Qinwen Zheng, and I watched the impressive comeback against Qinwen Zheng on Saturday. After losing the first set, Avanesyan lost her serve to start the second set and fell to 0 – 2 before something happened. 

We all know what momentum looks like, and I didn’t expect Elina to mount not only the comeback to get back in the match but to go on and win it either. At +550, Evanesyan was dead and buried and the line setters appeared to have the line nailed. OR…

A third-set tiebreak eventually turned into a win for the 21-year-old from Pyatigorsk, and Elina can give Jasmine plenty of trouble in Paris today. Taking that momentum into this match is huge for me, and I see the +5 games featuring a -125 line.

If you don’t mind some juice, I strongly recommend you jump on the Avanesyan +5 but I don’t think we’ll need that half-game. The total for this match is only 19.5, and Pinnacle dares to put a +170 on the Over 2.5 Sets prop.

That makes it time for a bonus bet because you are damn right they are going the distance to reach the quarterfinals in Paris. 

Paolini is no master clay expert, and I know she has the four titles on this surface but let’s not lose track of where those wins came from. Lower-tier ITF and Challenger event titles are all good, but this is a Major, and I think the Italian will feel the pressure.

This will be a 3-set thriller at +170, and Avanesyan easily covers the +4.5 Handicap at -105 so take advantage of it.

ELINA AVANESYAN RECENT FORM

Avanesyan competed in her first French Open last season and advanced to the fourth round. Back at this stage again, Elina is only 5 – 4 on clay this season and this is her first 3-match win streak since her run to the fourth round last year.

Avanesyan also has four clay titles to her credit, albeit the same ITF and Challenger-level events as Paolini.

JASMINE PAOLINI RECENT FORM

Paolini is 7 – 3 on clay this season, and she carries her first 3-match win streak since her run at Indian Wells back in March.

The Italian native has played in six Majors in Paris; this is the first year she has made it out of the second round.
