Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on March 11, 2025. Odds may now differ.
Elena Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva were semifinalists in Dubai and the Kazakh was favored to reach the finals at -135. Andreeva provided the upset, went on to the finals, and eventually hoisted the trophy after defeating Clara Tauson to earn a hefty paycheck!
Andreeva’s run to the final in Dubai included wins against Iga Swiatek, Marketa Vondrousova, and the semifinal win over Rybakina, and she carries an 8-match win streak into today’s contest at Indian Wells.
Now a resident of France, Andreeva is achieving things at 17 years old that have taken the WTA by storm, and the former Junior #1 is only getting better with each outing.
Since losing to Andreeva at the WTL in December, Rybakina has lost only four matches and every opponent was ranked in the top-15, except for the defeat against Belinda Bencic. Bencic is regaining her old form and is a former top-10 ranked player herself, so the bigger the match, the harder it has become for Rybkina to find wins.
Andreeva started the week ranked 11th on the WTA tour, and will crack the top 10 with a win against the Kazakh native.
I foresee that happening today, and if the line setters want to ask us to flip a coin to come up with the winner of this match, my coin lands on Andreeva at -110.
This match will likely go the distance, and should be a thriller. BetMGM has odds at +350 for Andreeva to win this match 2 sets to 1, and that is my bonus bet for this high-profile match at the BNP Paribas Open.
ELENA RYBAKINA RECENT FORM
Elena Rybakina started the week ranked 7th on the WTA Tour, and the Kazakhstani is 15 – 5 to begin the 2025 campaign.
Rybakina defeated Suzan Lamens and Katie Boulter to pick up two wins at Indian Wells this week, and is attempting to win three matches in an event for the fourth time this season.
Elena won her first three matches at the United Cup to begin the year, but fell to Iga Swiatek in the playoffs. Rybakina won a trio of affairs at the Australian Open and ran into a hot Madison Keys in the round of 16. After a 3 – 0 start in Dubai, Mirra Andreeva said nyet, not today, and sent Rybakina packing in three sets.
MIRRA ANDREEVA RECENT FORM
Mirra Andreeva has won her last eight outings, which includes a perfect run in Dubai. Andreeva defeated Clara Tauson again in the third round after beating her to win the Dubai title, and is 2 – 0 this week at Indian Wells, including the win over Varvara Gracheva in the second round.
RYBAKINA VS ANDREEVA HTH – STAT OF THE MATCH
Rybakina and Andreeva have played in three events since the 2023 campaign.
In 2023 they first met in the Round of 16 at Beijing, and Rybakina defeated Andreeva in three sets.
This past December, Andreeva won the only set between them at the WTL, and followed that up with the semifinal win in Dubai before lifting the title.
