Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Tamara Korpatsch WTA Open de Limoges Prediction: German Facing Big Odds Against Her

- Best Odds: -115

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on December 11, 2024. Odds may now differ.
Ekaterina Alexandrova has been away from tennis for two months to the day of this first-round encounter with German native Tamara Korpastch.
The line setters aren’t giving the German native much of a shot of hanging around with Alexandrova but I am not so convinced it will be a walk in the park.
Ranked 28th on the WTA Tour, Alexandrova was last seen in Wuhan taking a loss in the quarterfinals against Xinyu Wang. I cannot let go of the results for Alexandrova before the 2-month absence and I am not talking about Wuhan.
Getting to the quarters in Wuhan is all well and good but as we look over some of the losses Alexandrova has suffered before the time off, there is concern. The loss to Polina Kudermetova in Seoul is sticking to my gut like a hot bowl of chili and then the loss to Sramkova in Beijing was another head-scratcher.
Alexandrova was pushed to three sets in 3 of the 4 matches in Wuhan after Beijing including the loss to Wang as mentioned in the quarters.
My confidence in Korpastch is another concern though. The 172nd-ranked German native has gone 21 matches without back-to-back wins since early August and is in the midst of a horrible season.
I’ll take the total to stay under 19.5 games because Alexandrova should outclass Korpatsch despite the time off.
EKATERINA ALEXANDROVA RECENT FORM
Alexandrova played in the doubles competition at this event until yesterday’s loss to Jacquemot and Rouvroy.
The 30-year-old is 26 – 24 this season with a 20 – 14 record on hard courts and a miserable 1 – 7 record on clay in 2024. Alexandrova hasn’t produced a losing season in her pro career dating to the 2013 campaign.
TAMARA KORPATSCH RECENT FORM
Tamara Korpastch is 29 years old and is not getting better with age.
Korpastch produced a 47 – 28 record in 2022 and the last two seasons have been full of disappointment.
After a 27 – 30 2023 campaign, Korpastch is 14 – 35 in 2024 facing a losing record on all three surfaces, including the 0 for 5 on grass.
ALEXANDROVA VS KORPATSCH HTH – STAT OF THE MATCH
Ekaterina Alexandrova defeated Tamara Korpastch in their only meeting in 2022 at the Madrid Open. It was a 6 – 4, 6 – 4 result that day and we expect a similar result today at Le Open de Limoges.
The winner of this match will face Lucky Loser Marian Leonard in the second round.
