Jon Reid’s Djere vs Faria prediction is for Faria to once again prove to be a pesky underdog.

We won’t be seeing these kinds of prices on a top-100 player much longer. Faria has surged in the last year up No. 87 entering this week in the Chilean capital and heading into this tilt he checks in at No. 86 in the live rankings with a chance to reach No. 80 just by winning this match.
It won’t be easy against a back-in-form Djere, but I certainly think his chances are better than the current odds are indicating.
Faria’s game still doesn’t seem to be understood. The development behind the serve and first forehand has been remarkable and his numbers this week in altitude, where those strengths are amplified, have shown consistency and repeatability in his results.
If Djere was one of the most dominant players on clay on the main tour or in ripping form for more than one tournament entering this week, perhaps I’d understand. He’s a strong 250 level player though, and I’d make the case that Faria is almost at the level himself.

Laslo Djere Recent Form
As I said above, Djere won’t be an easy win by any means with the way he’s been playing. We opposed him with Pedro Martinez to no avail, but I’m still not overly impressed with his play this week. Certainly not enough to believe he wins 70% of the time or more.
Djere made the semifinals back in Buenos Aires and has yet to drop a set so far this week, but his second sets have not been nearly as impressive as either of the first sets he played. After dominating Martinez early, he nearly let the Spaniard back in it, saving break points and 15-30 situations fairly often.
He certainly has the tour level pedigree and the weapons to succeed this lower rung on the ATP Tour ladder, but he’s by no means some dominant force.
Jaime Faria Recent Form
We went over Faria’s form to start 2025 the other day when we had him to win against Luciano Darderi in the first round.
He obviously won that match and then went on to beat Gustavo Heide as a slight underdog in the second round as well. I mentioned his service numbers being impeccable of late, and 80% of first serve points won with 50% of second serve points won in four of his last five matches really bears that out.
His issues this season on the dirt have come almost exclusively against more defensive-minded players that we’d call pushers, where finding ways to hit through them can be hard for a still-young and developing player.
Djere doesn’t quite fall into that category, so he should still manage to find plenty of swift holds of serve.
Laslo Djere vs Jaime Faria H2H – Stat of the Match
With Faria’s incredible rise in the last year, there hasn’t been much time for him to run into Djere. There’s no surprise that this is the first meeting between them.
