Qualifier Yulia Starodubtseva will take on Diane Parry in the second round of the Jasmin Open on Wednesday and the France native carries the chalk into the affair.

At -150, Parry is the 3-seed in Monastir, Tunisia and it took an hour to ease past 1206th-ranked Chiraz Bechri in the first round.

Starodubtseva enters the week ranked 130th on the WTA Tour and has already played three matches that have gone the distance at this WTA250 event in North Africa.

EJ Garr’s Diane Parry vs Yulia Starodubtseva prediction is filled with expectations of a lengthy battle so check out his offer with +140 odds below.

Diane Parry vs Yulia Starodubtseva Prediction: Quarterfinal Appearance On The Line

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds:  +140
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds updated at 7:00 am UK Time on September 11, 2024.

Diane Parry enjoyed landing in Tunisia with the 3-seed because it gave her a practice session against 1206th-ranked Chiraz Bechri in the opening round. As expected, Parry flew past the local Tunisian who gained entry to the main draw as a wildcard.

Parry only dropped 3 games in the straight-sets win to start the event and the Mademoiselle needs a run in North Africa this week to finally break into the top 50 of the WTA Rankings. Ranked 55th currently, Parry has struggled to win back-to-back outings since her run to the semis in Palermo, Italia.

Starodubtseva claimed three victories in Tunisia this week between two qualifying wins and the first-round success against Suzan Lamens. After a 3 – 0 qualifying run at the US Open that ended with a Main Draw appearance,  the Ukrainian native is 6 – 1 in her last 7 outings and is playing with confidence.

Being an underdog against a player ranked just outside the top 50 isn’t going to shock anyone and I thought about the handicap offer but +2.5 games isn’t quite enough to make the bet on the Ukraine native to cover.

I expect Yulia to take a set from Parry and if you haven’t seen the 2 – 1 correct sets option at +333 toward a Parry win you should take notice of it now. This match is going the distance and the Mademoiselle is moving on to the quarterfinal of this WTA250 event in Tunisia.

DIANE PARRY RECENT FORM

Diane is 14 – 9 on hardcourts this season and the France native has only produced three wins in three events in 2024.

Parry will have a winning record on hard courts for the first time in her career this season which she hasn’t done since turning pro in 2018.

Diane is 27 – 21 this year and is still chasing her first tournament win on a surface that isn’t clay having claimed 6 titles on the dirt since 2020 at the ITF/Challenger level.

YULIA STARODUBTSEVA RECENT FORM

Yulia reached the first round in all three Major Tournaments this season and 2024 is the first season on the WTA Tour for the Ukraine native. Starodubtseva was ranked 146th going into the US Open and with a 6 – 1 run in the last 7 outings that number rose to 130 this week.

Yulia is 18 – 9 on hardcourts this season with a 32 – 20 record and in two years she hasn’t produced a losing record on any surface. Last season the Ukraine native earned four ITF titles and is 42 – 15 on hardcourts over two campaigns.

PARRY VS STARODUBTSEVA H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

This will be the first meeting between Diane Parry and Yulia Starodubtseva on the WTA Tour.

The winner of this match will advance to face either Mai Hontama or Sonay Kartal in the quarterfinal of the Jasmin Open.
