Diana Shnaider will be a semifinalist and I am not toying around with the Cinderella Story that Ishi is creating in Tokyo this week. The clock has struck midnight and the reality of this situation comes to light as Ishi takes on 16th-ranked Shnaider as a massive underdog at this WTA500 event.

As much as I respect what Ishi has accomplished to get to this stage, the 19-year-old is not quite ready to take on a player ranked inside the top 20 

The comeback win over Zeynep Sonmez was a nice result against the 148th-ranked Turkish native to reach the quarterfinal. Ishi’s service game is not sound enough to get past Shnaider so I am putting my first combo on the board since I started posting WTA tennis at Bettingexpert.

The only scoreline I can see playing out reads a 6 – 3, 6 – 2 win for Shnaider and the -5.5 handicap priced at -140, there is no way I am offering that juice to anyone!

The Under 19.5 Games has juice of -135 and is a line out of my wheelhouse but these two bets together give me value of +212 in a combo.

Shnaider will see the semifinals and the magical run from Ishi concludes at the quarterfinal of the Pan Pacific Open.

Diana Shnaider had lost her last three outings before the first round in Tokyo to start the week.

Shnaider is 13 – 7 since the beginning of the North American swing and has claimed four titles during the 2024 campaign. With a win on all three surfaces this year, Shnaider will produce a third consecutive campaign with a winning record.

With a 50 – 22 record, Shnaider has 50 wins in two of the last three seasons with 8 tournament titles.
